Jury Duty in Kane County

My friend just got called for jury duty and it's the week she has finals. All she wants to do is see if she can have it moved because she gets out of school May 18th and she has to go on jury duty May 11th. I think it's crap they make a full time student do this when they are paying for their own schooling.
The notice only has 2 numbers, 1 to call to see if you are on it and another to call in emergency only if they can't make it for that day. Does anyone have any numbers to call or info so she can see if she can wait until school is out for the summer?
I told her she shouldn’t have called to even find out if she has to go, they can’t prove she got the notice and all they would do is send another one for a different time.

I had this same problem, scheduled for jury duty on Tuesday. I'm also a full time student. I talked to a classmate and he said he just called them up and said he was a full time student and they let him off. Another class mate said to mail them a letter with your student ID and your schedule. As for myself, I was a standby and I wasn't called in. There are numbers on the letter they send you.

But the numbers are for calling in to see if she had to go and the other one is for emergency only if she can't make it that day. Should she call the emergency only number and see what happens?

Thats what I would do. Calling the number to know if you have to go in that probably won't work since its an automated line.

is there any real penalty for ignoring the letter? someone i might know has ignored almost a dozen over the years in a western state to remain nameless and has never had any problem, has anyone in IL ever been in trouble for not responding to the notice?

The letter says you will get a fine for not going to jury duty.

didnt we just answer this last week?
well its true, if you are a student you have no obligation to go, exams or not
just tell them so, they required my class schedule once, and once they just let it go
my rule of thumb is ignore the 1st notice, they let it go. 2nd notice then you have to do something about it or they fine you
