minor off..

all in all a minor off... I'm going to just paste already written content from emails and facebook, so forgive me if it reads very badly lol....

F150 cut me off, I tried to avoid but impacted rear fender which knocked me off the bike. The initial impact caused the fractures and lacerations, the actual off caused no further injuries. I was wearing full gear.
As motorcycle accidents go, it was minor. The bike is safely in my garage and was ridden there by a friend I ride with (Thanks Spoil9!). The damage is pretty minimal, aside from the right mirror and brake pedal its just cosmetic, functional repair cost should be under $200. I did visit the ER via ambulance. My blood sugar at the scene was 50 and I was light headed and pale, likely slight shock from the trauma and damage to my left hand. I was "alert x3" whick is highest level of awareness and I briefed the EMT girls on my stats and condition the same way I would have i I were handing off a ski injury from Ski Patrol. I initially asked only for field dressing and release, but with my blood sugar crashing it became clear to me that I needed further care.
Fourth metacarpal broken in two and middle phalanx of the third finger shattered in multiple pieces
The hand surgeon said it was about 50/50 if i would heal with just a splint or need surgery, and he suggested just the splint and see how it goes, so that is where we are for 2 weeks.

I think thats all for now, I am on Keflex as an antibiotic to prevent infection and vicodin 750mg for pain.

Photos and xrays behind clip.

oh and yes, "it'll buff right out" lol

Glad to see you posting man!! Heal up and hope to see you riding soon! For actually hitting something, I'm glad it was relatively minor!

Ride smart... stupid hurts.

Everyone crashes. Some get back on. Some don't. Some can't...

Godspeed 788!!! We miss you!

Hey, why don't you pick on vehicles your own size?

Glad to hear you're not seriously hurt and can post and such. I wish you a speedy recovery without surgery.

It's just an added bonus the bike isn't badly broke.

If you ride like there's no tomorrow, today will be a BLAST!

Everyone needs a healthy way to relax, mine Church, and two wheels, a stretch of winding road, and a pipe loud enough to give me headaches and make squirrels explode. (Fixed curtousey of PWRMAD)

Nothing is impossible the second we say ill try your already admiting you can be defeated, and the second you say i cant or its to hard youve already failed.

He was very nice about it, driver and passenger of the truck helped right the bike and get it to the curb, police happened to roll by moments later, took statements from multiple witnesses and issued citations to the driver of the pickup.

Just got home from the hand specialist, he said that I DEFINITELY should have had surgery two weeks ago, FML.... anyways, course of action now is to let it heal and see what happens, I have a new, less obtrusive splint, and I go back to see him in a week. It's possible that I'll end up being fine, though there is a concern that it's healing slightly rotated, if it's bad then it'll have to be re-broken and pinned in the proper place.

your one handed typing skills are superb. I hope it can heal correctly on it's own. To have to have it rebroken and then surgery would be brutal. Especially with riding season just starting. Glad to hear the truck was ticketed. Has their insurance come through yet?

The foil reference, no.

I have an '02 Taurus, decent room in the back if it can get small enough. Is it rideable?
