Comcast Customers ~ Free Starz or Internet Speed Upgrade for 12 Months

Worked for me. Got starz for one year free.

Quote:
Apparently, Comcast will be dropping the NFL Network at the end of April 2009, and as compensation for the reduction of service, they are offering customers one year of free Starz or one year of free High Speed Internet speed upgrade. After the one year, the service upgrade will be dropped automatically.

To redeem the offer, call the Comcast Customer Appreciation Offer Hotline at (866) 671-0782 and you will be prompted, "If you recently received a letter concerning possible NFL Network changes and are calling to redeem one of the customer appreciation offers, press 1."

I think the offer is intended for customers who subscribe to the Sports Entertainment Package. I did not receive the letter, but I called the hotline and was still able to sign up for one of the offers. (I chose the Starz package; I have no idea what the Internet speed upgrade entails.)

I received the letter in the mail and it's not official that NFL Network is going away, just that the two parties have not resolved their issues yet. but sounds like Comcast is preparing for it, so probably not a good sign.

I'd rather see the sports package cost dropped by a couple $ a month then instead of getting a lame channel like Starz for free.

Bogus. They offer they gave me was 5 free OnDemand movies or the speed upgrade. People without their DVR can't get OnDemand so I went with the speed upgrade. 12Mbit to 16Mbit.

I do not have the sports package and just attempted this and it did not work. They said I would have to purchase the sports entertainment package in order to receive the offer. I asked them why did I receive the letter then and they said everyone received it but only those that have the sports package may redeem.

i hope ALOT of people drop the NFL network and it goes belly up. I hate the coverage and I don't really like thursday night football games.

Try again. Their customer service is a crap shoot.

BTW, I qualified for this offer and chose the internet speed upgrade Saturday.
I followed that up by running a speed test and I'm still at original speed. Called again and they said I had to wait about 30 minutes, reboot my modem, yada, yada.....BS
Monday I call again and they said I was never upgraded and the guy never heard of any such promotion.
Called later that day and it now was there but I'm still having crappy speed. I now have the dreaded scheduled appt. between such and such hours. I know there are comcast techs on this board, but how fricken horrible is their phone customer service.....

I can't wait til uverse is available in my area.
