+1 as I don't see it as a Fail one bit - For many moons people in other cultures have been doing just this - Good on 'em for making the most of what they have to work with

True, BUT the infant on the back is a little much....At least put it in the middle for less exposure to the elements, it could catch cold

I dare anyone who has a problem looking at this pic to go to Patia beach or Phuket Thailand, or just about anywhere in mexico if that is too exotic for you. You will see things that will blow your mind, and to the locals is as normal as us taking running water and indoor plumbing for granted.

I have carried upto 4 people on my 110cc 2 stroke scooter. My weekly allowance for gas back then was about a dollar max and it beat the hell out of walking or even using a bicycle. I could get to the other side of town with less than half a liter of gas coasting down hills whenever possible. We had it down to a science. It got a lot easier to do that once I got my first motorcycle as the idle could be turned down to zero and pulling the clutch in killed the engine and at the bottom of the hill let the clutch out to bump start the bike back up.
We did not get cars and credit cards for gas from our parents when we turned 16.
True Story.

Werd. This is pretty much standard in a lot of places other than US. I was in Mexico a few weeks ago, and saw a families of 4 on scooters at least once a day.

Safe? No.
Necessary? Yes. Not everyone gets to afford an SUV. Nor would they want to in some of these countries.

Beats walking.

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.

This reminds me of the Top Gear episode when they rode motorcycles/ scooters from south Vietnam to north Vietnam. Classic episode, watch it if you haven't seen it.
