Motorcyclist is shot in Evanston

So, 2 guesses, he was on a sport bike, so his butt was the only target, and it was a 22, if it were a 9 or a 45, it wouldn't be a treat and release.

But, wtf?

He was treated in a local hospital.

Some real shaddy people/places in parts of Evanston. My friend is a cop in Rodgers park and says they are always being called over to deal with their crap.

Years ago heading East on Howard a car full of local laughing "residents" going West pulled into my lane and ran me up to the curb. I managed to avoid crashing by inches. Wayyyy back in the 70s a friend took a bullet through the bicep riding in Evanston in the same general area. He never knew what hit him or why he was targeted. He woke up crashed with a hole in his arm. He found out he was shot in Evanston Hospital ER. I hate riding in the city.

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.

The caliber of the firearm does not minimze the crime OR the danger! In fact, a .22 is far more dangerous because it has a muzzle velocity that makes it more damaging and potentially deadly than larger caliber weapons. The victim is very lucky that the bullet didn't strike a bone and fragment and send small pieces of bullet all over his insides at a rapid speed!
Obviously there is some kind of sick anti motorcycle nut roaming that area. Be mindful of that fact and keep an eye out for anything/anyone suspicious or threatening or following too close etc. if you're riding anywhere near that area. AND...we should be hammering the Evanston police to go all out to apprehend this nut!

Fucked up story.

On a side note, it doesn't say he was shot with a firearm.

BB Gun, Slingshot, Paintball, etc. could have been the weapon used.

SmartDrug's right, no mention of caliber.

Sidenote: 3 in the butt from a moving vehicle is pretty good shooting.

Same thing happened in Rockford last year. Guy shot at 2 bikers, one in the helmet (helmet saved him). They caught the guy about a month later. I thought it was some idiot kids or pissed off home owner who lived in the area. Nope some 47yr old asshat who lived in southern Rockford.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

something similar happened in Rockford last year...a guy was popping shots off at sport bike riders on Perryville road. He shot 2 bikers, one seriously, and shot at many more. When police finally caught him, he said he didn't like the noise they made as they rode by his house. If you don't know houses off perryville are like 200yards off the street. He was also using a 22 rifle.

yup, that's them...out in the sticks i get alot of this: People from big cities move to a small booming town, then when they get here they bitch about how the town is loosing it's small town feel. So they go in mass to vote down any expansion, which eventually leads to the city dying, cause with out any extra business tax base to pay for all the new people that moved out here, you can't pay for all the city services. when will people learn that about 99% of the time, you cannot have your cake and eat it too.

My point is that sometimes it takes a bit of pressure from the public to get departments to treat something as more than routine. If enough motorcyclists and motorcyclist groups let the police chief or commisioner know they are concerned, it will trickle down to the street cop to go all out to nail the shooter. It will also potentially bring media attention that has the effect of warning unsuspecting riders of the shooter and makes the public aware that could lead to possible info that will nail this asshole!
It worked up in Wisconsin a while back when some punks were stretching Saran wrap across rural roads and a couple on a bike were seriously injured when they hit it. No big deal for cars or trucks...but almost killed 2 bikers. An outcry from some bike groups pressured the local police to take extra measures that got the punks caught.
As they say...the squeeky wheel gets the grease.

"Dirt is for racing on...Asphalt is for getting there" OR "Flat trackers go in deeper and come out harder... OR (With apologies to General MaCarthur) "Old motorcycle racers never die, they just slip off the groove and fade into the dust!

Being a Viet Nam Vet, I know you are right, but bascially given the choice of a 22 up the butt, or a 45, I'd take my chances with a 22.

They caught that guy over the winter. Somehow he was only charged with aggrivated battery.

Not that it matters, but it was on Alpine not Perryville.
