Skydiving

Any skydivers here? I'm thinking about trying it, and subsequently getting certified if I like it. Lookin for suggestions for a good safe place to learn.

Getting certified takes a little while. It's well worth it if you're dead set on doing it. If you just want to try it out, go tandem and see what it's like. Jumping out of a plane gets pretty freaky on the ride up, when you're going solo the first time.

I got certified in the middle of nowhere in central Illinois. Not sure of any places around here.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

I've done three tandoms. Great rush... if you want someone to go with, let me know. I will go back up!

And yes, takes some time to get certified for solo stuff. And it's just motorcycles... when you get into the sport it costs ya; but well worth it.

What do the internet and Channel 11 have in common? They are both a window to the world; put it out there and do not be surprised who will see it.

Go to chicagoland skydiving instead of skydive chicago. Much better place and there safety record is the best in the country. Well worth the drive and everybody should skydive at least once in there life. Words cant explain the fealing of jumping out of a plane, its just something that you have to experience yourself to understand it. Chicagoland skydiving out of hinckley, IL. Fantastic and fun group of people.

The first I went the airplane oil gauge shut off and they were talking about bailing out of the plane. This was in a piece of shit cessna that only held 4 people + the pilot who always wore a parachute. If you want to be able to do it by youself with your on rig anytime you want. You're looking at 5-10k for certifications + your own rig(parachute rental adds up when your trying to get your license).

Im taking my GMAT on June 2nd, so I plan to do this to celebrate, maybe I'll recruit.

I've heard a lot better things about Chicagoland Skydive Center with respect to safety, even better it seems to be the closest place, so thats DEFINITELY where I'm going.

BTW, they have spring sale / group rates. I'm organizing a group of co-workers now. Currently we're shooting for May 16th.

Anybody interested in Indiana skydiving I would highly recommend this place. Air Indiana Skydiving Center in Flora, IN. Here is a video of my buddies first time, I'm actually in it about half-way through the dude talking to my buddy lolz. Fast forward to like 2:45 or something like that I think is where it starts with my buddy and his first time.

Certified sky diver? Does that mean if you survive the plunge, you get a piece of paper? hehe

Randal: [to Dante] Would you grow up!
Becky: [to Dante] OK, I'm only telling you this because we're friends, but sometimes, in the heat of the moment, it's forgivable to go ass-to-mouth.
Randal: [chuckling] Ha! I knew it.
