Need Lawyer

Helping a friend. Anyone know a lawyer that deals with fraud? Or maybe a good advice on what to do? Ill try to make the story short.

My friend bought a 06 999s from this guy(ohio). Transaction went well until my friend went to register the bike, he cant register it because the guy never register the bike(has IL title) in ohio. Guy bought the bike from IL, brought it to ohio but never register it there then he sold it to my friend(both sign the title at the back) so now when my friend tried to register it, the DMV told him to get it title first in ohio because he is like the 3rd party. He cant register it here, thats when all the problem start. My friend called the guy and ask to get the title transfer to ohio and send the title to him. Which the guy agree and cool about it. A week later, guy called and told my friend that in order to get it titled in ohio he needs the bike for vin inspection(which is true, ohio verifies the vin) I guessed my friend is so confident and very trusting because the guy doesnt look like the guy who will ripped him off(guy delivered the bike from ohio to IL with no fee) he agreed to give the bike. 2-3 days later guy picked up the bike, A week passed my friend called him coz he havent heard from him, guy never pick his phone or return his call. So by the 2nd week with no return call i told him to file a report to ohio and here that the bike is stolen. The detective even call the guy and admit that he sold the biketo my friend and his excuse that he havent got the time to do it. So the detective told him to wait and see what he does. A month passed by no call or return call from him just to say 'i havent work on it etc..' (Almost 2 month passed by) Out no where the guy called and asking why he put a hold/report the bike stolen. My friend said 'WTF do you expect you havent return my call in a month' Guy said im sorry blah blah blah and he wants my friend to remove the file report so he can register it. My friend said no way until you give me the bike, he even told him that he'll pick up the bike there since he already got the vin # inspected. The guy replied why do you need the bike for if you dont have the title which is pretty obvious what he wants to do.Guy thinks he can get away with it coz he has the title and bike. My friend wants to end this. He can go there and get the bike but dont want to get in trouble for confronting the guy. His sick on waiting for the detectives. He asked for help for the ohio police if they could just escort him to go to the guys house and get the bike but they said if thier not busy they will go with him. His also thinking of suing the guy and jst get the money from him. Whats his best option ?

friend should have went there with the bike.

To make this right and lesson learned.

take a trip to ohio. Tell the guy, say, hey, I'll pay for the transfer to your name, and i'll buy you lunch or beer(etc for your time) Then have him sign the title to you and get a bill of sale.

hopefully, your friend has a bill of sale already.
