How much can I expect to sell a non-running bike for?

I'm trying to figure out what to do with my POS bike. Part it out (which seems like a PITA), sell it as is or spend $1k in parts plus labor to get it running and immediately sell.

Bike is an 01 Yamaha R6 with either 16k or 18k miles on it and has a clean title. Bike isn't running and needs a new ECU/CDI Unit, wiring harness, ignition, voltage r/r and stator to get it running (hopefully).

Can anyone suggest a price for me to list it at as is? I have no idea what it would sell for in its current condition and whether or not it would make sense for me to sell as is.

Thanks in advance.

If you have time, probably easier to sell if it's running.

Bobby I still don't think it's his fault the bike is a POS, he didn't know.

Brian (BFLY) picked up the bike a few weeks ago, took it apart and said I need to replace all those parts. I think I'm competing to see how many new stators I can buy in one season.

If it really needs all that replaced, (and I would trust Brian), you're much better off parting it out rather than sell it complete.

Frame with a title is worth some good coin. Good motor is worth several hundo. Wheels are another $150. Bodywork is another $150. Gas tank would be $100. Forks would go for $150

That's probally $1500-$2000 in those pieces alone

Yeah I was figuring the parts alone would be $2-3k easily since the motor and frame are in good shape. I was wondering if I could get $3k as is, not running but since the majority is saying $100 I'm guessing it's not possible. Parting out just takes so damn long and is such a pain in the ass!

bikes worth $4225 in according to kelly blue book. In this economy probably $3500 would be more realistic. You've got $1000 worth of work to do. Not running I'd say you need to knock off another $1000 for risk because it's not running. Whoever buys it is going to have to tow or set up transport worth $200.

so:

3500-1000-1000-200. I'd say you might be able to get $1300 for it IMO.

Pretty right on in my guess. too, i told her 1500. i have changed it after seeing the last battery smoke to 500

Just got off the phone with bfly, his words where, the ecu is fried, it was smoking. he disconnected the stator and the volt reg and it would still smoke when the ignition was turned on. he was saying it would take forever to back check the wiring harness so thats where that idea came in, he also thought it might be stemming from any of the other sites, not really sure with the look over he did without looking into it deeply.

Thats all i got, again lori, ill pick it up for $500 as is.

Yeah $1,500 is no where near worth it to me. I'll just spend the grand and fix it up and then sell it as a running bike. I've only been able to put 5k miles or so on that thing so I'm not going to take a $2,500 loss on it.

I don't see how it is going to cost you that much to replace the parts. Post up on the WERA board and buy all of it for a couple of hundred dollars.

WERA board? Never heard of it. Going to check it out now. I tried looking for used parts off of different R6 parts but couldn't find anything I needed.

plastic and steel or aluminum I can see if its in good shape. Looking at an engine doesnt tell me if it runs or not. Not busting your Femballs -Im just curious how one goes about that
