Farrah Fawcett about gone

Most of you young guns probably dont even know who she is.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/eonline/2009..._top_eo/122658

Los Angeles (E! Online) – Farrah Fawcett may be gearing up to show her strength in an NBC special, but Ryan O'Neal is breaking down about his longtime partner's battle with cancer.

"It's a love story," he tells People magazine. "I just don't know how to play this one. I won't know this world without her. Cancer is an insidious enemy."

The actor admits his angel has lost her trademark tresses and her treatment has neared its end.

"She stays in bed now," he says. "The doctors see that she is comfortable. Farrah is on IVs, but some of that is for nourishment. The treatment has pretty much ended."

Those facts may have accounted for son Redmond O'Neal's recent temporary release from prison to see his mother. Despite his visit in a jumpsuit and handcuffs, his struggling mother has been kept in the dark about his latest drug and legal troubles.

"Farrah doesn't know Redmond's in trouble, and Redmond is terrified for his mother. 'I don't want to be in jail and have some guard tell me she is gone,' he said to me. I told him, 'She's rebounding.' I lied to him. I lie to her. It's the best thing," says the elder O'Neal.

The May 15 television special, Farrah's Story, began when the Charlie's Angels star took a handheld camera to the devastating doctor's appointment during which she found out her cancer had returned, friend and producer Alana Stewart tells People.

The two-hour documentary follows the star through personal moments, highs and lows, and several trips to Germany for treatments not available in the United States.

"At about the halfway point in our trips the news started to get darker and darker and darker," O'Neal says. "The hope started to fade. But not for Farrah. She continued fighting. There was always a courage there, and a quiet dignity. Farrah never changed. I fell in love with her all over again because of how she handled this.

Supposedly in the poster listed above, her hair spells out the word SEX. You can see the S and X letters the best starting from her right shoulder and going to her left.

Cancer-stricken Farrah Fawcett may not 'make it through the day,' sources tell Barbara Walters
By Richard Huff
DAILY NEWS TV EDITOR

Thursday, June 25th 2009, 10:29 AM
Hollywood golden girl Farrah Fawcett's more than two-year battle with cancer is close to an end, sources have told ABC's Barbara Walters.

"I'm not sure if she's going to make it through the day," Walters said on Thursday's "Good Morning America."

"She's had her last rites."

Walters has been in constant contact with Fawcett's family and long-time love Ryan O'Neal for a special that was to air Friday at 10 p.m.

Because of the immediacy of Fawcett's health condition, the special has been moved to Thursday at 10.

Walters said on "GMA" that Fawcett is hospitalized and surrounded by her family and friends, including O'Neal.

"This is all he wants to do is be with her," Walters said.

Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006 and has since waged a public fight with the disease.

Family friend Alana Stewart has filmed part of Fawcett's cancer battle.

Some of the footage aired recently as an NBC News special, including heart-wrenching images of Fawcett undergoing painful treatments.

The one-time pin-up girl exposed her will to live at all costs, including multiple trips to Germany for experimental treatments.

That special also featured heartbreaking footage of Fawcett and O'Neal's jailed son Redmond making a bed-side visit to his mother, then totally ravaged by cancer and unable to speak on camera.

For the ABC special, Walters talked to O'Neal, Stewart and others in her close circle, as well as her medical team.

O'Neal told Walters that Fawcett is the only woman he's ever really loved.

"He loves her so much," Walters said. "When he walks in the room, her face just lights up."

O'Neal also told Walters that Fawcett is "an amazing woman, with simple roots that ... took on challenges that others wouldn't try. I always admire women that are independent, that ... have a dream and look as good as she does."

Fawcett, 62, is perhaps best known for a swimsuit poster in 1976 that made her a fantasy date for millions.

She married Lee Majors in 1973, who was then the star of TV's "The Six Million Dollar Man."

She went onto star in "Charlie's Angels," a show about three beautiful undercover agents.

She left after a year to work in movies and more. She and Majors divorced in 1979.

She soon became involved with O'Neal, launching a decades long on-again, off-again relationship that became part of Hollywood lore. Their son. Redmond was born in 1985.

O'Neal, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2001, told Walters that when Fawcett was diagnosed he was distraught, but didn't show it.

"I panicked. I didn't let her know, but I panicked," O'Neal said.

"I've been living with cancer for eight years at this point and ... I saw lots of what cancer can do. And I just knew one thing, that Farrah Fawcett was hard to kill."

O'Neal also told Walters he wanted to marry his long-time love, when she was ready.

"I've asked her to marry me, again, and she's agreed," O'Neal said.

"We will, as soon as she can, say yes," he told Walters.
