I guarantee, if her dad died, he would be. He will probably get his "first" write-up. 20 years of service, this is forgivable unfortunately.

Wow... the sad part is for all of the incidents like this that you DO hear about... how many don't we hear about? Bravo! to the girl for standing up to the authority figure in the wrong.

That's f'ed up. Especially when the fuckwad arrested her.
To be honest, I'm not sure whether he should be fired or not. 20 years of solid service, and the chick didn't sound that panicky.... but even so, that response was WAY out of line. The complete lack of contrition doesn't make him all that sympathetic a character. I do hope he gets sued to make an example of this kinda shit.

You do realize when someone sues the shit out of the police they are really suing the shit out of all of us.. right?

where do you think that money comes from?

do you think the police take a big collection? pass around the hat.. "we are trying to raise 70 million for accidentally cornholing that drunk"

Not to say perhaps it isn't warranted in this case.. I am not going to go that far..

sorry.. real life creeping into clsb.. just a little sick and tired of the sue sue sue sue sue happy american culture anymore..

What a dick. He should definitely be fired. Yes he had 20 years of "solid" service(bullSHIT), but his one slip up could have cost someone their life and that is not excusable.

This honestly pisses me right the fuck off. The man's fucking job is dealing with hysterical people all day long. That girl didn't say anything that would be WAY out of the ordinary. People think they are in an authority position when in reality they actually aren't specifically in this case. I respect cops on a whole. But, I've met a LARGE proportion of local/state police that have a major chip of their shoulder because of the position they entitle. Minimal training + authority = huge head. There are some good ones out there though to say the least.

What could be even worse is someone very disgruntled because of a conversation like this walks into a police station to where the dispatchers are and start popping off rounds. People in this fucking world are crazy.

As much as I hate cops I have to admit that even though what he did was very wrong I don't believe that he should be fired. 20 years of solid service and not 1 single disciplinary action against him. All of us have had one of those days where you're either about to strangle the shit out of someone or you already have It doesn't make it right but I can understand that cops are after all human and are bound to make mistakes. I'm just glad he didn't answer the phone when a girl with Tourette's called in

That's the problem though. It doesn't matter if he did great for 20 years (which he probably did not and just had things covered up for him)....his ONE mistake could have cost someone their life! That is NOT excusable and he cannot be relied on anymore.

Whoa hold up there chief. First he was a sgt with in the department second the officers do in fact give breaks to the dispatchers who are just citizens with no police power that are doing 12 hours shift daily. For the guy to retire let the law suit do its thing and move on. Tho I will say the dispatchers do take the blunt of the abuse on every call for the most part.
