LoL!

I disagree.

SMS was invented by a men to converse with women so we didn't talk to them for 40 minutes for something that could be said in under 140 characters.

I disagree. it's a simple way to communicate with out all the needless chitter chatter and you can ask a question and the other person can respond when it's convenient without being interrupted with a phone call.

"hello?"
"hey it's so-n-so"
"hi, how's it going?"
"fine, what's up?"
"nothing, what's new with you?"
"not much"

there's a waste of 5 minutes that says basically nothing. (and that's purely an example, obviously not every conversation is like that.)

I got it a little higher...
303,000 txt/month = 10,100 txt/ day assuming 30days

10,100txt/day = 631.25txt/hour assuming 16hours of texting

631.25txt/hr = 10.52txt/min

10.52txt/min = 0.18txt/sec

I agree. I'll text someone "Lunch?" and replay with a time and place. So simple and my wife and I text all day also, it passes the day.

I have a very hard time believing that many texts were sent/received. People do sleep.
I'm a college student and I can honestly say that I could do WITHOUT texting. Sure, I text 100's a month or so sent/received but I could do without it. I call fucking people then they txt me back saying "what's up". Answer your phone, it's not that hard. The ONLY thing good about texting is when important things need to be done while you can't talk on the phone. But, that's probably only a minimal percent of actual texts being sent. Don't even get me started at guys/girls texting while out to eat.
Whoever thought it was a good idea giving any teen texting abilities before they get their license/stop having parents pick them up from places is way to caught up in America's pop culture scene.

I used to hate texting, but I think I actually prefer it now. It's much more convenient to reply to a message at my own leisure than stop what I'm doing and answer a phone to talk to someone.

My daughter texts me all day long and it's great. She doesn't live with me and it's 1 great way to keep in contact with her. She texts me when she gets home, I can't talk yet because I'm still at work.
I have mixed feelings about the whole picking up and dropping off also. I grew up in Chicago and everything was walking distance for me or the CTA was close unlike out in the subs. Out here in the subs everything is too far for walking and Pace bus isn't everywhere. It's at least a 20 min drive to any mall so a lot longer to walk too. I never understood the whole driving the kids to the mall until I moved out there, it's a whole different world.

I'm gonna throw a guess, that majority of her texting is forwarding stupid chain txts to multiple people at once. Quite easy to rack up the numbers that way. Still, quite ridiculous.

Let me further explain. This is a positive outcome. When someone's 14 year old daughter is sending "naughty" text messages to the boy across the room, this is what I'm applying it to. Especially pre-14 year olds who don't go anywhere but school with you parents, parents pick you up, parents take you to other houses with parents etc..

I agree with you on the naughty texting, but I also look at my daughters phone anytime I want. She'll have 200 in her in box and I look at them and she knows I will. Her having a cell phone was the best thing I ever did, her and I are very close and I hope it stays this way.
Verizon has the EeV 2 and 1 nice thing about that phone is you can set it up so a person can only text who is on the contact list. If a persons number isn't on the contact list, nothing will work. The parent can lock the contact list also with a passcode so the kid can't change it. I miss that but at&t has some nice things I can do also.
I think there should be more stuff to do with kids phones so they are more limited.

That seems awesome with a trust worthy kid. But, If they have the open contact list they could just delete the txt messages. I don't want to say anymore cause it doesn't really matter to me.

She could, but for fun 1 day I matched up the bill who she's texting on her phone and it was the same, and with at&t's bill it's pretty easy. She also doesn't have picture messaging because the internet is blocked and from what I heard the pix messaging needs the internet.
she also has rules along with her phone. Her grades has to be up (her last report card she got a "B" as her lowest grade), she can't be on the phone when we're are in public (unless me or her mom calls), she can't have it out when eating at the table, does stuff around the house to pay for the bill, and her friends can't use it. She knows 1 mistake and the phone is gone for at least a month, if not more.. aren't I mean?

Do other parents on here have cell phones for their kids? I would like to see what others do also.

If i had kids the phone would be a one way phone.

Phone would only receive and make calls to/from MOM and or DAD no one else

go time traveler style and go back in time, fuck his grandma, then shoot forward in time and then fuck his mom. Then return back to present state and call him a the product of two incest whores and hes your son and show video of you plowing the both members of his family. .
