We tend to go to Indiana because you can reserve camp sites online and they don't care about booze.

The Dunes or Tippecanoe River State Park are both great.

I'll tell you why we make fun of midgets: We're not afraid of them.

The Warren Dunes have gone down about 3 notches since my childhood. Last time I was at the dunes themselves, I was a bit disappointed. A lot of litter nowadays in the dunes themselves. Watchout for broken glass while running down it. Also they don't allow night time trips anymore. Fat police officers on quads troll the sands (though I guess you could go after midnight, dunno how late they stay out). The stars are nice from the top of the dunes, and its peaceful out there.

Best camping I ever did still is in Colorado Springs tho. It didn't spoil camping in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Indiana, but it trumped it somethin' fierce.

As your attorney, I advise to you take this acid

It all depens on what you want to get out of your camping trip. When we used to go on our boys weekend trips, our focus was that the site was on a nice size lake to boat on, that there was no restricitons on beverages and there was entertainment near by. As a result we always ended up in Decatur Michigan on Lake of the Woods.

Greg

Curious, what do you consider "real camping?"

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

real camping: no electrical/water hookups available anywhere, there might be a well with hand pump for potable water
youre in a tent, not a popup or RV
no picnic tables are provided either

amenities camping:
hose bib available close by, possibly electrical
use of popup or RV
picnic tables laid out for the prearranged 'sites'

I thought real camping was drinking around a camp fire, then drunken mountain biking till someone breaks something (bike or bone, it don't matter).

+1 Nice place but don't try to go there during a holiday weekend such as Memorial Day or Labor Day. It gets filled to capacity bout midday Friday.
