Road America AMA races 2009

Mods.. Please move as appropriate - wasn't sure if this fit in racing news or track talk or where?

Anyone else booked?

I have some friends camping, but due to the new addition I nabbed a hotel in Sheboygan.

Heading out Saturday morning - Returning Sunday night.
Will probably spend most of the days in the non-family camping area - I'll get the # from my friend later and edit this..

Also.. Did you catch how much they raised the "retail" price of the tickets?
Holy shit.. AMA is in the toilet so RA took this chance to stick it to the fans nascar style
Quote:
AMA Adv SUPERTICKET (6/04-6/07/09)
$140.00 $80.00
Qty:
Advance pricing available until 05/27/09.
80$ is the advanced discount price
(not all formatting transferred.. don't remember the code for strike thru)

rest of the pricing is here
https://www.roadamerica.com/store/products.aspx?catid=2

We are staying in this hotel - 140$ a night.. Seemed about right for a race weekend.
Sleep Inn And Suites Sheboygan
Check in: Sat 6/6/2009 Check out: Sun 6/7/2009 Nights: 1

So who else is going?
Camping or Hotel?
Side note.. Who is all riding?
I am debating riding along side Wife so I have the bike up there.. I bought the stupid salute to cycles thing.. Going to try to talk her into riding pillion on it... She is saying "no" so far.. I'll keep working on it

I'm going to be there Friday through Sunday working the corners (that sounds so naughty). I am very happily going to be camping while there. I'm going to be caging it up there though.

I've never been before so I have no idea what to expect but I'm super excited!

all the iphoners should install loopt.. then add eachother.. then delete eachother right afterwards so no stalking goes on... bad enough I have fire stalking me

wonder how often you're standing at a corner next to some other person you "know" and not know it's them (yes.. i dig the double meaning)

I'm not cool, I don't have an iphone. What is loopt tho?

NM... I figured out what google is and used that. Certain BB's can download it too.

It's the same weekend as F4T so most people are going on that. There are very few people that I've heard of going to RA.

The attendance is going to be way down due to both economy and to DMG's cockup of the rules/classes. A quick scan of superbikeplanet.com's pix shows really small attendance.

I'll be there the whole weekend. (golfing at Quit Qui Oc on friday AM) descending into madness the rest of the time. A few years back, Terry Vance (of Vance and Hines) was in the foursome behind us. Its pretty cool to hear sportbikes ripping up the side roads near the golf course (although I'm sure non-riding golfers hated it!)

Siebken's is where we hang all three nights, especially on Sunday, when the racers come out to play.

Brentano is coming up from Cincinnati for this, but leaving his Monster 750 at home.

It was the only weekend that it would work for the people planning it... or something like that. People would rather ride than just watch I guess.

All I know is that I'm going to have a trunk full of liquor and hopefully a tent and clothes (if there is room after the liquor). Motorcycles, camping and liquor can't be beat! Unless of course I find a guy and kick Vicky's ass outta my tent.

Does anyone know what the camping situation is like for this? Is it an actual campground or just a big field we all camp in? Do they have fire pits for grilling or should I bring a grill? They have showers, right or do I need to bust out my camping shower? I'm driving down to Missouri to get all my camping stuff and I'm trying to figure out what I'll need.

they have fire rings - you are assigned a spot (did you already get your spot?)
they do have showers.. i used them once.. generally id rather go 2 days without a shower than have to risk buying tough actin tinactin at costco
get yourself some baby wipes
then again.. girl showers are probably way more classy than the guys

Nope, not assigned a spot yet. Good to know they have showers. I'll wear flip flops in em so I won't risk heading to Costco. Lol. Or if they have a river or lake nearby that works too.
