Getting Gas at the dentist

So i got 2 wisdom teeth removed this morning and I went in with a plan. The secretary had told me just ask for gas if you're worried. I gotta say I wasn't worried but the idea of a little nitrous to take the edge off sounded like a good idea to me. My intention was to go in and at the first whiff of pain ask for the gas, and throw on my headphones.
You know what happens? That fucker had the first one out before I hardly noticed so no gas for me, then he's like just take some aspirin for pain... he looked at my like I was a junkie when i told him that I didn't think that would be sufficient and wanted some Norco.

So, how's the pain and swelling?

I had percocets I believe when I had 4 removed. I was on them for a couple days.

It's not too bad, I've got some vicodins so I took 2 when I got home and I'm going on 6 hours, not all that much swelling it looks like I'm in pretty good shape.

They broke off a chipof bone in my jaw when I had mine out and i looked like a chipmunk hording acorns for a good week or so. It also took me 3 days before I could open my jaw far enough to get a spoon in my mouth for pudding.

i had my wisdom teeth pulled a few years back and apparently snapped on everybody in the place when i woke up. when i got up, i was in a different room and asked the nurse why that was. she said i woke up after having the teeth removed and started yelling about the chair and demanded a different room. i guess i just walked out, yelled at a doctor and some patient, then sat in some other room. she said it's normal for a lot of people to get angry as a result of the gas.

what i never understood is that in order to EASE the pain, they have to put a syringe in the roof of your mouth, gums, etc. seems sort of bass ackwards, but it works i guess.

My dentist was awesome with getting the wisdom teeth out. I got shots and gas. I am a wussy with pain in the mouth. I had no pain afterward...but took the pain meds anyway!

Isn't it the freakin' weekend yet???

I don't think I got any shot, but the gas was faaantastic.

I am almost certain that during the procedure I woke up and started singing to the nurse. It seems so vividly true, but I was too embarrassed post op to actually ask her if I had sung or if it was a hallucination. Don't remember what song it even was, so could have been a hallucination.

Needless to say. Boo shots, Yay gas!

Consider yourself lucky. I was put under for my 4. By the time I got home I was so swollen, I couldn't get any liquid in. Percs weren't doing much for the pain, but than again I've always had this shitty tolerance to pain killers...

I think you had a lot of things done to your teeth, BECAUSE your mom is in the dental business. My friend has two dentists as parents. Not a real tooth in his mouth and he's more modified in the grill than Jaws from Bond films.

Im a huge anti dentite, but most don't agree with me.

I knocked out/displaced 5 teeth total about 5 weeks ago. When they put the knocked out tooth/re-aligned them they gave me literally about 10 numbing shots over the duration of about 2 1/2 hours. So far, I've had 2 root canals both with numbing. This summer I'm looking at about 2-3 more root canals and 3 crowns.

Wow what happened Caparzo12?

I'm doing better today but am running low on vicodins, he didn't give me anymore after the extractions. Anyone know how long a perscription is good for I have an old one thats from last July that I never filled.

Eh, bicycle wreck, and a parking bench that disagreed with me. After three visits to the dentist, my teeth are 100% back to normal LOOKING, I still need to have some root canals done. But, the worst is over. They look fine now. Thank you technology!

I have my completely unprovable theory about dentistry. I treat it like I treat my religious world view. The core concepts are important (i.e. flossing/brushing is important like believing in something is important) but the indoctrination leads to a corruption (i.e. organization of religion causes controversy, war, etc, just like dentists cause tooth issues)

What is a cavity essentially? A hole in the tooth filled with plaque. What makes holes? Sharp pointed stainless steal hooks like the dental tool. Who fills those holes with sweet "bubble gum" flavoried "flouride"? A Dentist...

Think aboooout iiiiit...
