Looking for a new tattoo artist

Well, about 3 years ago, I had my first daughter's footprints tattooed on my back and now I am going to be getting my second daughter's handprints tattooed as well but my old tattoo artist quit and moved away.

Any suggestions for places in Rockford, or Burbs?

I'm not going to just go to anyone. I need some serious suggestions and positive feedback on a tattoo artist that I prefer to have quite a bit of experience 10 yrs +

THANKS!

I have seen the worst tatoos EVER come from Tatoo Factory.

If you can wait till June, there is a huge 3 day tattoo expo at Navy Pier on the 19th-21.

http://www.bodyartexpo.com/MAIN.PHP
(click on exhibitors on the left of the page & scroll way down to the Chicago dates for a list.)

There will be at least 200 artists there, mostly local. You can look at all their portfolios & chat with them. Good chance to find quality work. You can take your artwork with you to discuss & then set up your appointment, which can be done the same weekend at the expo, if you want.

I found my artist Carl there last year from Forever Yours in Minnesota, & he will be back again to finish it.

It's a blast to walk around & people watch, too.

I've only been to Jade Dragon, and to be honest, I am a total fan despite how many people will volley back about how terribly overpriced the place is.

I trusted both the guys who did each of mine, and when you get something that will be on you for the rest of your life, you want it done right the first time. The expense is matched by the quality there for me at least.

Mine are 4 years old and a 6 months old respectively, and the one that is 4 years hasn't faded one bit nor has the 6 monther...granted I don't see a lot of sun and when I do cover the things up like I'm allergic to sun

As your attorney, I advise to you take this acid

Thanks for the suggestions... REALLY appreciate it. Now I have so many places to choose from, haha.

If you guys can show pictures of the tattoo, feel more than welcome to. If it's worth suggesting the artist who did it, show it off.

Wow, This looks like a damn blast and what's awesome about this is that I have already taken off the 19th from work and the boyfriend has Thursday/Friday off so we can both go on Friday but def not Saturday (I have work, a baby shower, and a wedding --> I don't think I'll have time, haha) Thanks alot for mentioning this. I've never heard of this before so it should be an awesome time. Scott needs to do a cover up on his arm.... awesome, I'm really excited.

i work in a tattoo shop and almost all of my tattooes are designed by me and done by the guy i work with.ive never done fingerprints or footprints since im more on colors and swirls and lines but i can ask my co-worker if hes done some(we both dont have the 10+ years experience your asking..lol)i cant post any URL's yet and coudnt post my pictures here even if uploaded them in this site too.
im pretty picky with my own tats thats why id rather design them myself atleast i know no one else will have them.
i created an album here and i uploaded some pictures of my back and my arms(the ones with just nonsense lines and colors and the lil devil girls are all my own drawings on my body)
i also did a freehand work on a girls arm(friend of ours) and my coworker laid the ink.its all flowers(still needs colors)
and the rest of the black and grey work(popewith devil and the weird evil dude with weird heads) are all done by me(my poor attempt on doing black and grey.thank god theyre my friends..lol)
PM me if your interested
i carry my portfolio on my iphone..lol
