What to do with bogus cel phone????????

OK i know shoulda coulda but i bought a voyager cel phone from someone on cl and everything on the phone seemed to be good until i tried to hook it up and then NO WAY. After talking to a number of people at verizon they said the phone would be able to be turned on after they paid the bill (that just went to collections) and they obviously wont answer there cel# and i even tried a email. Is there any thing i can do to use the phone or am I just S.O.L. I have my old voyager but the face is all cracked is it possible to switch the internals?

They should just close the old account, send it to collections and tie the phone (with a new number) to a new account (or *your* existing one) for you as a new/existing customer.

That's amereican cell companies jamming their stick in your rear. CDMA phones are crap because you can't take your phone to another provider even if you paid for it. GSM rules.

There are ways to change the ESN, but I'm thinking they are possibly not legal.

Wait, and they will unlock the phone's ESN in a few months. But the thing I don't get is, why didn't you meet this person at a Verizon store to activate it right now the spot?

Yeah... GSM RULES
unless you are inside a building..
then it can kind of suck

oh and nobody keeps their #'s on the card anymore.. the addressbook capabilities are too limited.

and GSM in USA is not like Europe.. It is still locked (IE you can't take your TMO phone to ATT or ATT to TMO... )

In europe you just swap cards.. Here GSM as CDMA they lock the phones and or release slightly different models for each carrier
