SO anyone else have RLS

Restless leg syndrome? what are you doing to stop it.

Well after hitting the doc today I have now been received my first medical issue restless leg syndrome which is a big cause of my insomnia so the doc says. She contributes it to me working crazy hours all the time.

So how are you handling it cause as I refuse to take meds for it

go time traveler style and go back in time, fuck his grandma, then shoot forward in time and then fuck his mom. Then return back to present state and call him a the product of two incest whores and hes your son and show video of you plowing the both members of his family. .

RLS--creepy crawlies

I've had RLS since the age of 8. It gets worse as you get older. My working hours (3rd shift) don't help it. Alcohol aggrevates it. Usually I'm up for 30 hour stretches over the weekend.

Drugs help, but only mask the condition. Have taken "Leggatrins" years ago, but were taken off of the market because of liver failure in much older adults. They were 100% quianine. Have taken prescriptions for seizures that work for RLS, but they put you to sleep and you can't function well on them.

All I can do is tell you that as much sleep as possible helps with the legs. Yes, easier said than done. I cramp constantly sleeping and while up for long stretches, you're forced to stand up all of the time.

There are many websites dedicated to RLS, but there are no known drugs that will help without putting you to sleep. Klonopin (clonazepam) comes to mind. My RLS kicks in while I'm driving home from work. It is an 1 1/2 hour drive and I spend at least 1 hour shaking my legs from side to side. Wish you luck. Good thing is that my RLS doesn't bother me riding the motorcycle at all. Must be the riding position?

Do a search for RLS. There are support groups in Illinois. Sorry I could not help any more. Bring back "Leggatrins", that is the only thing that worked for me. Forget bananas and iron pills.

I don't have RLS but right now I'm having a sunburned back syndrome . Which is, according to the Wikipedia, kind of close .

On the more serious note, according to the same Wikipedia entry: cut out that soda and junk food, switch to healthier food and work out regularly. You have to do that anyway or very soon RLS will be the least of your problems.

EDIT: I should clarify not to piss off anyone suffering from RLS. I'm not a doctor, but from the description of it sounds like at the early stages it could be confused with a simple sleep disorder, plus they do say it is worsened/caused by hypoglycemia (soda/junk food). So improving the diet + working out just may help... and can't hurt in general. In addition this will at least improve the sleep pattern.

Try to get 8 hours. Try to go to sleep at the same time every night and wake at the same time. This includes the weekends. I try to maintain a tight schedule regardless of insomnia or other things such as late night movies and boys night out, etc.

I'm sure diet has a lot to do with it. I consume almost no alcohol but when I have a glass of wine or 2 it really kicks up the RLS. I can't drink anything within 2 hours of bedtime let alone a beer. I guess I know now why our grandfathers would drink in the afternoon while working around the house.

Ditch the pets in the bed too if that's something you do.

Finally, I bought a sound machine on Amazon for $50 and that keeps me from waking up for non RLS issues. Mechanical white sound is so much better than alarm clocks with white noise buttons.

I have it and it is inconsistent at hell. One thing that does affect it is caffeine, so I stay away from that. I've found that since I exercise a lot it isn't as bad.

I've tried requip, I think that's the name, and it left me in a horrible fog so I quit after one try. When the legs are really bad I sleep on the floor on my stomach. The pressure on my quads helps ease the pain.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

Yup, I have it too, If it really starts to bother me, I get up and do a few sets of squats, then go back to bed. It seems to help to fatigue the muscles a bit.

and as far as health food and working out, it's not just that, cause I eat healthy and workout 6 days a week

Those drugs (Requip) are worse than the RLS. Just tuck your sheets in really really tight. Army style and you won't move.

No its not a serious condition health wise just annoying. There is no known cause to it either and it is very common

You'll know even if no one tells you. It feels like your legs are going to get up and walk away without you. It's very hard to get comfortable, and it feels like even if you got put on one of those stretching torture machines, you still couldn't make the feeling go away. I just try to stretch and will myself to go back to sleep.

I had it HORRIBLY when I was pregnant with my youngest. I just massaged my calves until the tingling went away. It's like an annoying, painful tingle. I about went crazy!

I never DID anything medically about it. I still get it if I am just about to fall asleep and something/someone wakes me up and keeps me up for a little bit, then I get it when I try to go back to sleep.
