Gertting into racing

Can you guys recommend any tack days this year that are targeted towards beginners? I can't afford to get a track bike this year nor do I even know that I will like the track so I have to take street, how many of you track your street bike?

All major org have groups targeted for beginners , i.e. riding in controlled environment and instructor advice. look here https://chicagolandsportbikes.com/for...isplay.php?f=9 . Some orgs even offer free intro sessions. Street bike on the track is ok. The prep is pretty minimal for beginner groups. One important thing though is to double check condition of your tires and set the right tire pressure for the tire brand you have.

lots of people track their street bikes, the level of prep goes up the more you do it. I started out my first intro (free) day riding up to the track, taping my lights and goin out there, got done, and rode home I've done a few more since then and now have a pretty well setup street/trackbike, complete with a different set of wheels and body work for the track.

Do you want a local track/riding school? Blackhawk has one this Friday. Street bikes are fine, they are great with beginners.

Do you want a structured beginner track day with a very controlled environment for beginners?
STT

Do you want a less structured beginner track day that lets you learn at a your own/faster pace?
NESBA
Also has FREE Intro sessions to see if you like it!

A variety of others, but Blackhawk and Autobahn are the closest tracks, and are both great learner tracks.

Also track days are NOT racing. Totally different animal. Track days have rules on where you pass and how close. Racing you get passed anywheres and rubbing bikes does happen.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

And just think how much more you could be able to spend if you get rid of that pasta bucket.

If you go to the track, PLEASE try to safety wire your oil drain plug and oil filter. If you don't know how, I'm sure someone in your area can help you out.

Just go with an open mind and have fun. Don't ride beyond your limits or comfort level.
