New Truck Purchase

If you were in the market for a new Chevrolet Suburban - when would you buy based on all of the things going on these days? GM, economy, etc etc etc etc.

What do your instincts tell you? Today / next week / next month ?

Best price is the basis for my question.

Find a dealer on the close list that has a ton of inventory (Reichert in Crystal LAke comes to mind...their lot is full at the moment)

Thinking logically, they'd want to unload everything they have in order not to pay finance charges on their stock

Look, I can appreciate this. I was young too, I felt just like you. Hated authority, hated all my bosses, thought they were full of shit. Look, it's like they say, if you're not a rebel by the age of 20, you got no heart, but if you haven't turned establishment by 30, you've got no brains. Because there are no story-book romances, no fairy-tale endings. So before you run out and change the world, ask yourself, "What do you really want?"

If the closing dealers got stuck with inventory ( like Chrysler ) I would think that
they would be pretty motivated right now to reduce inventory of stock on hand.

Doesn't seem likely with GM's cash position that they would do anything retro to
help dealer move stock on hand...... but I could be wrong if they decided to do
so to flush cars out of the channel ( to force dealers to take more cars )

I would think things are pretty close to perfect right now.

I haven't noticed much in the way of increased incentives/rebates being advertised, but I did notice GM card is permitting substantially larger redemption allowances right now.

That only affects GM cardholders with larger earnings balances, but it's an indication they may be stepping things up. I can make a call if you like

What Blarney and BanditCPA said. If it is anything like the closing Chrysler dealerships, they were selling 08s and 09s for 10-15k off invoice . You can't beat a deal like that .

Not sure at the moment. I can check. If you've got an in to make that work, the numbers are usually pretty strong.

GMS pricing has always been ~15% off MSRP and ~18% off options.

There were slightly higher than usual incentives immediately following the BK announcement (a few grand depending on model), but those were pulled back within a week or so.

I do know they have continued to allow heavier than normal GM Bucks redemtions for GM cardholders ($5kish max as opposed to the usual $2k or $2,500).

I think the bottom dollar right now may just be GMS pricing less GM card earnings if you have them.

I have more earnings than I'll ever use, so if anybody wants to work a deal, I'd be game.

no idea, they had carriers taking 3 at a time and those trucks were lined up. then later I saw at least 10 of those loaded with vettes coming up 55 from the south.

Somethings going on with Vettes.
