Just got the G1

Anyone else using it? I haven't got the cupcake update yet so I'm just gonna force it. Anyone got any apps that they're just in love with? Tips, tricks to keeping the battery life up?

always stay in 2g, turn off gps and phone locator to keep battery life longer. Turn them on when needed. Download the power settings app, and you're ready to roll. I love this phone.

https://android.clients.google.com/u...0.de6a94ca.zip

Mirror: http://andblogs.net/downloads/signed...0.de6a94ca.zip thanks to l3wis

1. Download the file and rename it update (if your using windows then the file extension is hidden by default so no need to type update.zip)

2. Connect your G1 and mount then move the file to the root of the sdcard so it shouldn't be in any folder at all.

3. Turn off your G1

4. Boot the phone into recovery by holding down the home key while your device powers on

5. Press alt+l to turn on the text then alt+s to proceed with the update.

P.S. Anyone with a MAC or MAC experience care to pm me.

I got my update OTA yesterday. Phone seems to be working much better for me. I've had mine since launch and have had no issues at all. Battery life has been fine and the only time it doesn't last all day is if I spend a ton of time surfing the net.
As far as apps go, missed call is great. I have been using aHome but they haven't released their cupcake update yet.

Checking out the forum from the g1. Pretty sweet. I'm sure I'll learn to appriciate the gps when I get lost on the sv.
