Resturant price question

So this place we went too had a list on the table "Capt. Morgan cocktails $4.00 everyday drink special". When we got the bill they listed them as $5.00 on some of them, and I asked the waitress and she said they were $5.00 after 9PM. No where did it have a time on the list on the table. I know it's only $1.00, but when you order them for people and they had 10 of them, that's $10.00.
I don't think this is right, they should have said on the list that the drinks were $5.00 after 9PM to let people know.
Am I asking too much? Am I wrong?
I am not complaining about the price, but the miss information about the price.

I've had similar thing happen to me. Since the waiter didn't care to inform me about the time a special ends, I subtracted the extra $ the drinks cost off his tip.

It's a bullshit move, but it happens.

I was at a bar a few weeks back, asked about drink specials, the gal said $2 Miller Lite Drafts, and some other stuff. I said I'd have a Miller Lite, she ends up bringing me a bottle of it and charges $5.50 for it because I didn't specify Miller Lite Draft... I was not pleased.

Nicely done. Next time the server might take a moment to better explain their policy.

If the waitress said up front about the price change, I would have been ok with it, I just don't like surprises.

Both issues are poor business practices, and it makes me not want to go there anymore.
Is there anything I can do? I don't want my money back I just want this not to happen again. Isn't this false advertisement?

Maybe next time pickup the advertisement and point out that it doesn't show a time limit and any good waitress/waiter should take off the extra charge.

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin', and hook up with them later!!

I did and they wouldn't do anything, and she even said people say that all the time. So she knows there is an issue, so they lost a loyal customer.

True, somewhat - Happy Hour use to be "Buy One Get One Free" which was outlawed - To compensate, Bars started with reduced prices from say 5-7 or 4-6 type timeframes

it's all a bunch of crap

Recently at one eatery, I ordered a meal & water for the drink. Bill came, had the drink on it @ $2. With the new job, I've eaten out more times in the last 2 months than in the last 5 years. No one charges for water (unless it's fancy bottled water). Anyways, pointed it out, she quickly acknowledged the mistake and provided a corrected bill. I tipped more than I should have, but that's how it is. I'll be coming back to this place again for sure.

i was at a restaurant (Chili's for a friends birthday) and ordered a hamburger with mashed potatoes (instead of fries) I ate a few forkfuls of the mashed potatoes and then went to eat my burger and it was completely raw. To the point where I actually felt nauseous. I sent it back and said don't bother fixing it, Ill just take the bill. They charged me for the mashed potatoes.

Sometimes the thought process of those waiters makes absolutely no sense.

It was probably only $178 worth of actual charges though. You should check your bill more closely.

A few years back when Chi Chi's Mexican restaurant was still in business, I received a bill for our dinner and it had an extra charge tacked on. It was somewhere between $.50 and $2.50 and said "Energy Fee". I asked the waiter what the fee was for and he told me that it was to cover the increased cost of natural gas at that time. That was about 2 months before that restaurant closed. They were stooping to some pretty low measures to hang on.

ah yep. i usually double check with the server just to be sure the drink special is what they claim. lots of bars will try to pull people in with ridiculously cheap drink specials, but not tell you it's only for well drinks, or a certain brand, etc.

You should have just totaled up your drinks at the advertised price and left that much then walk out. Maybe put the sign with the drink special price on top of it too.

I came here to drink some beer and kick some ass. And it looks like we are all out of beer.

I would have definatly gone to the manager and explained the situation. You'd be surprised what you can get from a place when you calmly state what happened.

Dude you seriously think they leave the waiters in charge of taking things off? ha, its a corporate place, the servers have no power. the manager controls all of that, and should have came to your table.

as for the happy hour thing, which is what the op was talking about, my last bar told me in illinois it is illegal to do that. you might want to call the manager out on that and see what happens. Bug they had to change what you were talking about because people would go to a bar slam as many drink as possible in those 2 hours or so than leave shit faced and drive home.
