Picture locations downtown?

Hey, me and some buddies are lookin to head downtown some day this week and snap some pictures of/with the bikes. Does anyone know any good locations to get some at? Please PM me directions or just post them so everyone can use them. I'd really appreciate it. THANKS!

If you want to get skyline in the background, somewhere down by the aquarium and planetarium are probably your best bet. Skyline with people in the foreground is problematic unless you have a higher-end camera. A tripod and people who can stand still for a second or so will help.

Your best best is probably a slightly underexposed flash picture for the foreground with a delayed shutter for the background.

Watch for reflective materials on jackets that will produce glare and/or overexposure. Also watch for glare of incorrect exposure caused by street lamps.

A full moon night would be helpful.

dave's right. good skyline shots can be had from the plenetarium. wheel your bike up onto the sidewalk for a nice shot.

WOW...i really appreciate the detailed response. But i forgot to mention...just a digi cam..nothing special....and during the day. Sorry about that! Do you know of any other locations?....maybe like "industrial" things? Sorry if i'm being a complicated bitch...but i'm just want some pics of my bike before it goes up for sale...and the local parking garages and stuff aren't cuttin it. Once again i really appreciate any help.

How about a picture like this one. It's on the curb by the Planetarium...

That's fairly representative of the results you can expect. If you have the luxury of waiting for a clear day without the haze you will get a better shot. There are more of these clear days in the fall.

If you want "industrial", how about the power plant down by Joliet or down by the barges. Both are off of I-80 at the Illinois River.

Even closer is the peaker plant in Warrenville (Eola & Butterfield) or the scores of warehouses.

How about by the Steel Works on Cortland? Between Clybourne & Elston.
