You thought YOU needed a lawyer!

After reading all the "Help me, I need a lawyer", and "anyone know a good lawyer" threads, I figured I would post this... While scanning the police beat section of a local paper, I found this. Pretty good stuff, but man, this lady is screwed! And you thought you had it bad!

Daily Herald--
Joy E. Murphy, 18, of 1404 Glencoe St., Wheaton, was arrested and charged with battery, damage to city property, unlawful possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia, unlawful consumption of alcohol, driving under the influence, failure to give information after a property damage accident, resisting a police officer, disobeying a traffic signal, driving in the wrong lane and driving an uninsured vehicle at her residence at 1:10 a.m. July 15, according to Wheaton police reports. Murphy was accused of striking construction barricades and trash cans on the 1800 block of Glencoe. A resident, who heard the noise, called police, said Wheaton police Cmdr. Terry Mee. Police followed a trail of liquid from the crash site to the driveway where the Jeep Grand Cherokee Murphy had allegedly been driving was parked with a construction barricade wedged underneath and a garbage can stuck to the front, Mee said.

Can you say fizucked!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess who is going to be bending over and grabbing their ankles for stability while the wheaton police give it to her.

Oh and she is 18. Oh that sucks. Not only tried as an adult, but even 1 year younger and this would have disappeared from her record. Or at least some of it.

I doubt it was Mommy's car if it was uninsured. Hope Daddy is a lawyer!

First thing to pop into my mind was---" Officer/ Judge yes i was drunk, I was at a Party, that was my vehicle that did the damage but honestly i was so drunk i can't remember the person who drove me home! I could not take a chance on driving drunk cuz i might have hurt someone but i wish i can remember who took me home.

This says it all!
Wheaton police Cmdr. Terry Mee. Police followed a trail of liquid from the crash site to the driveway where the Jeep Grand Cherokee Murphy had ---"allegedly"--- been driving was ---parked---- with a construction barricade wedged underneath and a garbage can stuck to the front, Mee said.

Are you saying this was a coincidence?

With a lawyer she MIGHT get out of most of the tickets if they cannot prove she was driving. However the fact that she cannot testify who WAS may be a problem.

Exactly! She was under the influence and drunk so her memory is clouded but she has to take responsibility for the damage done by her vehicle!

A good lawyer will get her a slap on the wrist as opposed to her actually being behind the wheel with the cherries going let's say.

I do agree with you guys.....

there is no real proof that she was driving. There is no proof that she was under the influence while driving, could have been somone else.

However... Take it from me, if the lovely citizen that called her in SAW her behind the wheel, it WILL stand up in court.

That citizen who called in the noise would have no shot in hell to see how many people were in the car not to mention who was driving at 1 am . You cant see into vehicles at that time of night unless the lighting is perfect. I doubt there was any way to concretely prove that girl was driving.
