Looking for a Mini-DV camera

Honeymoon is coming up real quick and I would like to bring a video camera along. I want something small, light, compact, and easy to use.

I also plan to hook this up to my bike and shoot some video. A strong optical zoom is important since I want to be able to shoot from the stands as well.

SO far I like the http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....4&type=product

Where can I find the best deals on these cameras?

www.pricegrabber.com www.dealtime.com search hundreds of online stores for best price with shipping to your zip. It's nice cause it has user reviews for each store so you know you can trust the store. I bought my JVC DVR820 through them and saved almost $150 less than BESTBUY or circuit city could even come close, plus i got a FREE extended baterry, 2 tapes and a lens cleaning kit!!!!!!!

I like my JVC it's small lightweight has lots of great features.

Willard: When I was home after my first tour, it was worse. I'd wake up and there'd be nothing. I hardly said a word to my wife, until I said "yes" to a divorce. When I was here, I wanted to be there; when I was there, all I could think of was getting back into the jungle.

So I stopped by Circuit City last night and held the Canons....they were big and bulky compared to the Sonys.

I really like the Sonys but the biggest optical zoom they have is 10x

The Canons were 22x.

The sales dude also said a lot of the Canons were coming back for repair.

Is 10x zoom plenty?

I have a Sony MiniDV. I can't remember the model number, but i think it was the trv70 or something...... I haven't had a single problem with it. I also like the fact that i can use the same memory sticks in my digital still camera.

how far away do you plan on being from your honeymoon?

http://reviews.cnet.com/Camcorders/4...1.html?tag=cbg is a good place to start reading and comparing.

it's not just the optical zoom that you should consider but also the imaging element. some units have better CCDs than others

depends on what you want to do. you can go nuts and get a prosumer model because this will be your one and only honeymoon, right?

Update

Rec'd my Sony DCR-TRV33 Monday morning! Could not believe how fast it came once I found a reliable distributor. Everyone online was on a 2-4 week backorder from Sony.

I happened to be talking to one of our tech guys and he mentioned calling our CDW rep. I did and he got me one overnight for $50 less than the sales price at BBY.
