Quad Cities (Davenport, Moline, etc)

Myself and a cruiser friend of mine are, along with a gixxer.com member I haven't met yet are heading up to Davenport tomorrow to meet up with a katanaplanet.com member I have yet to meet as well. Anyone from CLSB wanna join the party?

Just PM me and I'll let you know what the final plan is. Right now it's tentatively to leave Peoria about 11am and be in Davenport about 2-2:30. What exactly after that I have no idea yet.

But hey... Anyone is welcome.

Brian and I are going exploring this weekend, we're going to ride the river road past Davenport/Moline/Clinton towards St. Louis, MO and then out to Southern IL/ Kentucky border.

I think we'll be well passed the "Davenport" area by 2-2:30, I'm usually in St. Louis by noon, unless we get up late or something.

Where are you guys meeting at and where are you going to ride at?

Actually things have gotten pushed back to around 3-3:30 unavoidably. We're probably going to meet at hooters for some wings and soda... Then decide from there what we're doing. Sounds like we've got 2-3 more bikes from Bettendorf going to hook up too, but not sure yet.

If you head down the iowa-missouri border... take route 79 at LEAST from hannibal to Louisiana... the city... It's got a lot of nice 40mph sweepers that are pretty fun to run. We did that last weekend and it was pretty nice. No radical turns... It's definitely not the dragon, but it's not straight arrow illinois roads either.

I did that road last year, only the first portion is good. I'm trying the IL side this time, next to the Illinois river. I've heard it's good.

If you mean route 26 or route 29... I think 26 is a little better. On the east peoria side of the river. Take you almost to route 80 from east peoria. It's a good ride. Not quite the quality of sweepers (if I remember right) as route 79, but a lot longer ride. I rode all the way up to route 71, crossed the river and back down 29 a couple of years ago. It was a fun ride, but there just really aren't any quality roads in illinois. At least not down by me any way.

I'll be in Cordova watching the World Series of Drag Racing. It's a big IHRA event that started on Friday and lasts into Sunday. If you guys want to see some pro drag racing Cordova is just north of the QC.

Just got back from the drag strip. To bad you didn't go. It was a blast. Big Daddy and the Queen of Drag racing were there. Her Majesty ran 314 MPH!!!! I was speechless. I got it on tape and will post some of the video we shot today, if I can find a good host for it.

Yeah I think it was a 4.63. I have to watch the tape. It was the fastest run I've ever seen in person. It was unreal.

I've seen shockwave run... The jet powered truck... Not sure what it's quarter mile time is but it's super insane.

But hey... if you need a host, toss em my way. I'll host em.

My buddy's uncle is Jim Crownheart AKA Diamond Jim. He races in the IHRA. He runs two alcohol funny cars, and a jet Corvette. I love going over to his shop and looking at all the big motors. That guy is half nuts from what Iím told, but he seems normal to me.
