Stupid hipsters, taking our cheap beer. I started drinking PBR long before it was trendy. I knew something was wrong when it started showing up in the taps and refrigerators of north side bars.

This.

I've been loyal to the brand for over 15 years. There was a time when we had an arrangement with Sam's Wine to keep a few cubes on hand for my friends and I at all times. Could scarcely find it in the city limits for a few years there. (those were dark days)

Hipster Upside: Cold Cubes are easy to find
Hipster Downside: People think you're a Hipster and/or Hipster Sympathizer

For now I'll just be happy with the upside, and secretly hope that the next generation of wannabees will discover Kokanee and figure out a way to bring that down here.

college freshman can't choke Hamm's down.

I bought a 6 pack of Schlitz a few years ago, guy couldn't find the price, I had to wipe the dust off!

REgarding the subject at hand, I've been buying Miller High Life for the cheap beer of choice lately. The delivery guy is funny.

Milwaukee is always behind the curve, we're still drinking PBR here. Last time I saw a show at Schubas, the cool kids were all drinking Hamms.

You're right about the Schlitz though.

Also forgot that a lot of the Chi vintage guys keep refrigerators full of Old Style.

That being said I typically drink imports. BBK Oktoberfest Rocks, only on tap at selected German places as far as I know.

I used to play tennis @ the Brooks club in Brookfield, a suburb of Milwaukee. Would you believe free Schlitz on tap? My parents brought me back a belt on a two week trip to LA when we were living in Switzerland in '69 - you guess it - a Schlitz buckle which I wear when not business formal or casual.

Not Old Style...that's mega brewery crap from all over...Chi Vin guys keep La Crosse Lager on hand...made in the original Old Style brewery in La Crosse by the people who made the real Heileman Old Style who lost their jobs when some Mega brewery outfit bought the name. They re-opened the brewery and make it under the La Crosse Lager name using the original brewing recipe!
For those who are old enough to have been beer drinkers in the early 70's...remember the black & gold slim cans of Strohs?...I thought that was the best beer around...It's still being brewed and sold in the midwest as Old Milwaukee...The corporate mega brewing companies that swallowed up all the regional breweries did that with several brands...Imagine, a beer brewed in Michigan labled Old Milwaukee...The PBR you guys drink today is not the PBR that I used to get on tap on Cicero avenue when I was in my early 20's...They served it in schooners and it was soooo cold it made your teeth ache... but man, was it GOOD!

I did know a couple guys who had fridges full of Old Style, although La Crosse Lager sounds familiar.

PBR is still brewed in Milwaukee though... by Miller. (One of several breweries that makes it, but the stuff we all drink is probably from there.)

Also, random item I discovered the other day, Milwaukee's pickles come from Pennsylvania, or someplace not Wisconsin.

When dealing with green bottles in that price range rolling rock is a better choice. I still think that busch light is the absolute best of the cheap cheap beer. See, I learned something in college.

mmmmm, I love me some PBR. I drank it all the time in college, and they messed up on the pricing. I was getting 12 packs for about $1.50. I always made sure to buy a few packs of smokes, and a bottle or something with it so the drunk college kids working behind the counter didn't notice. Busch light comes in a close second.

Do they still make Meister Brau? I used to drink that sheeit too. Miller Lite is actually Meister Brau's light beer from the 70's...they were the first to come out with a Lite brew and Miller bought it

Anyone remember Black Label? I remember my old man buying 6 packs of that stuff for $1.99.

I've noticed the rise in prises and popularity of PBR as well. Time to move on to something cheaper. Oldmilyuckee is good, Hamms is ok, Keystone isn't that bad either. Natty light gives me the shits.

Oh, and for the record. Vcook is jealous because we were hanging out around the big ugly brown van during bike night, when I was on my home from Blackhawk drinking ice cold Coors Light. He so wanted to hang out with us.
