Mt. Prospect Warning
Saw this in the village news letter they send out. Thought I'd post it to give everybody a heads up.
It's nice to see my tax dollars going to such important crime fighting

Police Department Cracks Down on Traffic Law Violators
The Mount Prospect Police Department recently initiated a saturation traffic law enforcement initiative. The Department is utilizing overtime funds granted it by the Village Board to address the increasing number of citizen complaints about speeding autos and other hazardous moving violations most often associated with traffic crashes. The initiative involves focused enforcement over a given stretch of roadway for a seven day period. Enforcement occurs on all three patrol shifts to the extent possible. Officers are deployed in significant numbers to detect and issue citations to motorists observed committing traffic law infractions. This program is designed to foster an atmosphere of compliance amongst motorists traveling within the Village of Mount Prospect. The Mount Prospect police continue to enforce traffic laws Village-wide, but special emphasis is placed on the pre-determined saturation enforcement location daily.
The Mount Prospect Police Department has and will continue the saturation enforcement initiative according to the following schedule:
Wk #1: S. Elmhurst Road (Hiawatha to Rte. 58) 14-20 July
Wk #2: West Central Road (Hwy. 14 to Arthur St.) 21-27 July
Wk #3: Central Road (Hwy. 14 to Wolf Road) 28 July – 03 Aug.
Wk #4: Rand Road (Schoenbeck Road to Business Ctr. Dr.) 4 –10 Aug.
Wk #5: N. Main Street (Central Road to Euclid Ave.) 11-17 Aug.
Wk #6: Euclid Ave. (Rand Road to River Road) 18-24 Aug.
Wk #7: Golf Road (Mt. Prospect Rd. to Meier Rd.) 25-31 Aug.
Wk #8: South Busse Road (I-90 to Golf Road) 01 – 07 Sep.
Wk #9: S. Elmhurst Road (Golf Road to Oakton St.) 08-14 Sep.
Wk #10: River Road (Kensington Road to Seminole Ln.) 15-21 Sep.
In the first two weeks of the saturation enforcement initiative more than two-hundred and fifty (250) hazardous moving violation citations were issued and eight (8) arrests made, including two for driving under the influence of alcohol. Chief Richard Eddington reminds all Mount Prospect residents to obey the posted speed limit and always buckle up. Traffic safety is everyone’s business, and we can all do our part by exercising caution and practicing a little courtesy when behind the wheel.

Great Post Andy!
I wonder if they are granted overtime money, use it to write citations, collect the revenue from the citations, and pay the officers does it come out a wash? Would'nt ya think the town would turn a major profit? So where does that extra alotment of cash that was allocated for OT come from and if it's always been there why?
