EMS License Plates Help

Hey guys my Cousin is trying to push for getting EMS plates produced in Illinois (Cars only) I thought I'd pass this along to you guys. EMS are vital for motorcyclists, I'm sure many of you are very grateful for having EMS around in some capacity or another. And this is one way to give back to them. Illinois has a license plate for every cause imaginable including the Scarecrow Festival. Currently in Illinois there is a plate to recognize Firefighters and Police and none to recognize EMS professionals. It is about time those individuals who dedicate there time and energy to helping others get the recognition deserved. Those people include anyone who works in or with EMS including but not limited to: ECRN's, EMD's, EMT-B/I/P's, First Responders, TNS and PHRN's. Currently in Illinois there are over 63'000 of these professionals including air and ground personnel. While Illinois doesn’t currently have a memorial for fallen professionals the plan is to have a portion of the fee contribute to the EMS Assistance Fund.

This is the proposed design:

We have already gotten a petition to go through so we can have plates made.

Quote:
The Secretary of State will begin production of the EMS license plate only after receiving 1500 requests for the plate. Requests are available to the general public and license plate numbers are given out on a first come first served basis. An applicant needs to fill out the request form (attached) to hold a spot and enclose $12.00 deposit made payable to the Illinois Secretary of State. Once 1500 requests are in place, the Secretary of State will begin production.

Once license plate production begins, an applicant is charged an additional $27.00 fee for original issuance of their specialty plate (your $12.00 deposit will be applied to this $27.00 fee). Of the $27.00 fee, $15.00 is deposited into the Secretary of State's Special License Plate Fund and $12.00 is deposited into the Illinois EMS Memorial Scholarship and Training Fund. Each year when you renew your plates an additional $17.00 fee is charged. Of that fee $2.00 is deposited into the Secretary of State Fund and $15.00 is deposited into the EMS Memorial Scholarship and Training Fund.

If you are interested in preserving your spot, please complete the form at the attached link, print and return the form and a check made payable to the Illinois Secretary of State in the amount of $12.00.

Cool Idea but I wouldn't want it on my car even as a medic.

FF plates are already abused by every Independent construction worker driving a white POS van

Honestly the state needs to crack down on issuing plates like this to those individuals that can provide proof they are LEO, FF or EMS and it must be on a car in their name

go time traveler style and go back in time, fuck his grandma, then shoot forward in time and then fuck his mom. Then return back to present state and call him a the product of two incest whores and hes your son and show video of you plowing the both members of his family. .

woah, it doesn't mean you are one, it just means you support the cause and some of your money goes towards the plates cause.

4-wheels may be a privilege, but 2-wheels are a passion.

+1, the point isn't to pretend you are something you are not. Its to support those that are and their families.

I wont lie, There's times the cops see my plate and dont even both after pulling me over, and they just say have a great day. But having a FF plate doesnt mean your a FF or w/e. Just means you support it. But fella's out in an area called Blue Island... gang members/drug dealers are starting to use FF plates cuz less hassled by cops. Thats why alot of people believe you should need a FD ID to get these plates.

Either way the Gang members are donating money to Firefighters ... If you saw someone with special Olympics plates would you assume they were special, or that they donate to special Olympics?

I don't want to fill this thread up anymore with arguments about other plates, could we please keep the rest of this thread devoted to getting the word out about giving back to EMS professionals.

I'm not trying to poo poo this idea. It's a good cause. But if you look at the FF plates. They say Fire and EMS. A portion of the extra money that is being paid for FF plates should go to this cause.

I came here to drink some beer and kick some ass. And it looks like we are all out of beer.

I really like the plate. I am looking into ditching my vanity plate and using that money toward this. I'm not looking to try and ditch a ticket, just trying to help a cause. And the blue matches my Hyundai nicely.

Cool plate

WI has them, but on the plate itself, it states whether you're a supporter, or an actual member. Mine says Rescue Squad Member instead of Fire Fighter along the bottom. Subtle difference. I think the supporter ones have either "supporter" or "civilian" on it.
