Got an Engagement Ring...

Here it is...It was $2875, but she knocked off $937 for me, and then I added the lifetime warranty on the finish which was $60 for the engagement ring, and $20 for the matching wedding band which includes re-dipping and polishing for the lifetime of the ring. After taxes and all that is was like $2233.93. It's 1 carat T.W. I think the center stone is .50 carat, Color G, Clarity VVS1.

*Edit* I found a better pic on the website of the store I got it From...

The reason I chose this ring is because it is very similar to another ring I bought her that she totally loves (see below). She really likes the shape of the below ring, and the engagement ring is very similar to that shape.

Yeah, I had never seen anything like it. I wanted something original, so I knew as soon as I saw it, it was the right one.

She also hate's prong settings for some reason, so this really worked out well.

I can't get a really good pic taken, anyone have any advice on how to make the picture clearer?

Yeah, the jewelry store I got it from offers third party appraisals. It's an outside appraisal company that comes in and does it. My soon to be sister-in-law's ring appraised for more than double the purchase price from the same place.

I've seen this one before and I argree it is very beautiful and unique in the fact that it is princess cut, however, with the center stone on an angle. Some rings have really big prongs which take away from the beauty of the ring so I can see why she isn't a fan of them. Very nice choice. Here is a clearer picture of either the same or a similar ring:

That's pretty similar, except it looks like the side stones in that one are round. The ones in mine are all princess cut.

criminalgrrl...I got it at the Louis Joliet Mall at Fred Meyer, maybe you saw it there by chance??

I know exactly what you mean, I saw a few like that, but wasn't a fan of what the engagement ring looked like w/o the band. Looks cool when they are together though.

Nice work Kid - Congrats

cool ring. My fiance and I don't like the prong setting either.
Nice channel set design w/ the twist. I really like how the center stone follows that theme as well.

You done good :cheers
Thanks all, I think I'm going to make a fire and pop open some champagne tonight and give it to her.

Well, I did what I said and it went well. She LOVES the ring. She said she couldn't have asked for something nicer. So it's official now. Fells better now that I don't have to tell people we're getting married and already reserved a hall, but she didn't have a ring yet.

Very nice ring! Congrats and Good Luck... Something tells me you don't need luck, however, you have already taken out all the stops!

Congrats, nice ring.
There are trade offs when buying a ring and having a set budget with the 4 Cs. Bigger carat, lower clarity...etc. When I bought one I narrowed it down to what I could afford based on the 4 Cs and then went with what looked best to my eye.

Unless you plan on reselling it, that last part can trump any number...

Fluorescence has almost no effect of the "quality" of the stone and therefore doesn't effect price (unless you're specifically looking for stones with fluorescence). I was just curious, I've always liked stones with high fluorescence and it's a good way to explain to your soon to be fiancee that her ring is special (most women eat this stuff up) if it is. Hold it under a blacklight and you'll see right away whether or not it is, looks pretty cool.

I spent two months hand picking the stone for Peanuts engagement ring...I was torn between one with (high) flourescence, or one with a higher specularity. I picked the one with more sparkles without the UV light...though I wish I could have found both in one stone.

I'm a geek like that.

Well, I know it will be June 20th of Next year for sure. Don't have a clue where it will be yet. The best Man normally plans the Bachelor party, right??

I was casually looking for wuite some time before I started seriuosly looking. Nothing really caught my eye before I saw this ring, good thing it had a good quality diamond in it, because as soon as I saw it, I had to get it. I'm going to get a blacklight and see if it has any fluoresence sometime. It is really sparkly in the light though!
