Video editing software needed

looking for a suggestion for a piece of software to burn off several video files to DVD. These are home movie files in the avi format from a digital video camera. I'm looking for a SIMPLE piece of software to arrange and author them into DVD format, then burn to disk.

Suggestions?

Chris

I've never done exactly what you're asking, but I have used Nero to take various episodes of TV shows and make a DVD that has a title menu and stuff like that.

+1, Nero should do that. Just burning a .avi to DVD. If you buy a new DVD burner, Nero or some other software typically comes with it.

I want to do more than just one avi though, I want to merge a few and create a menu structure.

Roxio Creator. I've been using the counterpart on the mac (toast) for years.

Awesome software, IMO. You'll easily spill over and grow into the other capabilities too

Looks like this would work. Talk your company into thinking they need it and expense it.

I've used the built in to Windows (Movie maker) before and it was very easy to edit with multiple files. I'm pretty sure it's in vista and 7.

My name is JB, people call me JB

yes but it doesn't have native support for dvd creation, it requires additional software. Looking for an all in one solution.

Very simple and free.
You don't have to merge your existing avi files. When you build the menu, you just have it move to the next chapter (aka next avi).
I made a looping DVD that would just keep cycleing from chapter 1 to 2 to 3 to 1 again and it all repeats till you hit the menu button.
