I saw pics of the new Droid X and wasn't too impressed with how it looks. I'll wait another 9 or 10 months before the next version of the Motorola Droid comes out. Can you believe that its been less than a year and there already is a new Droid? I got the first one back in November of '09.

Bug, I worked on the Droid X while i was selling to Motorola. It will my my HDMI chip in it. It's pretty cool, but i still think i'd chose the HTC incredible over it.

Yep, official announcement was Wednesday.

They haven't said yet, just the Droid and the Droid X before the end of summer right now.

I'm picking up the X on launch day and relegating my Storm2 to work only duty.

Android is the OS..... there are 3 "Droid" phones, the Droid, the Droid Incredible and the Droid X (lauching in July). There should be at least 1-2 more before the end of the year from what Motorola is saying.

Verizon has licensing rights to the Droid name from George Lucas.

Motorola has had a proven record of quality issues with every phone i've owned from them. I like HTC's speakers better, I like the form factor better with the HTC. Google has more of a backing behind HTC vs. motorola so you have a better chance of getting future updates on the HTC.

This. Several different companies making phones that run the Android OS. Similar to all the different PC offerings running windows.

Google is just providing the OS. HTC is taking the open source OS and adding Sense and Moto is adding Blur. Once the OS is released to devs it is up to the manufacturer to add their UI if they want then release an update.

Froyo was released to devs on Wed when they announced the X. The X will get Froyo by the end of summer. When will EVO and the Incredible get it?

Google is going back to one major release a year starting 2011 I believe. It won't be 4 OS updates in one year. Once that happens most phones should get the new OS in a timely manner.

Of course none of this matters if you can root the phone and replace the bootloader.... custom ROMs are the bread and butter of the Android community.

Then who's to say there aren't "things" that can't be discussed about Google and Moto, and Samsung... etc.

Anyway... I just want the damn X already. 16GB MicroSD included. Looks like I'm not taking my Zune with me when I travel this summer.

Except the specs and benchmarks kill the EVO. And there shouldn't be backorders because of screen issues, and it's on verizon not sprint.... oh, and the 45nm processor vs the 65nm in the EVO makes for better battery life.

there are a ton of comparisons starting to come out. But of course there are a lot of EVO guys bashing the X. Check out any of the android forums.
