DVD software

Im looking for some dvd software that will take a movie off a dvd and convert it to a single avi file. I got a lot of movies and my nephews borrow them from time to time and I want to make a digital backup of them just because I know it wont be long before there scratched up to hell. Ive tried torrenting a few programs but none worked. I dont want to pay anything either so I was wondering who can help me out now?

Also I had the quality turned up to the max and it looked like shit. I figured out how to add them all to 1 file but its saying the duration is now over 17 hours and its not converting. I got ultimate 6 edition if that helps.

I use DVD Fab to rip my movies. Easy to use and does a fair job of converting to a bunch of different file types.

avi stinks, not enough features in that container. Consider using mkv containers.
