What DON'T you like about the phone?

I am due for an upgrade this week and will be going to Best Buy to get a new cell - I am on Sprint and not really sure what other phones come close to this one - Going to stay with the Droid OS as it is just solid

What say you?

not much really.. love the size, screen, hell even the battery life i have no issues with. you have a droid now, so you are used to the market, but there are more apps i would like to see that just are not available that you can get on that 'other' phone.

True dat - Why would you "hack" a phone though? - What benefit is there to doing this? - What do I give up by NOT hacking into it?

I have it and I am pleased with its performance. lots of cool apps like "vligo" for example. It reads your texts to you when in the car, remains on a standby mode and you wake it up by saying "hey vlingo" and it takes all kinds of commands hands free like calling, navigating etc.

Not pleased with battery life and I knew about that from the beginning. The phone has so much going on it just drains the piss out of it. Other than bat life I've had zero issues with it so far and I've had it a month. I suggest the car charger. Camera is 8mp and works great for a phone. The "qik chat" is a cool feature where you can do video chat with anyone that has it. Supposedly it's better than iphone because you need a wifi connection with iphone for their video chat to work...IDK I don't own an iphone. with the htc its on the cellular signal.

the biggest seller for me was the cost for service compared to verizon or att. It costs me about 30 bucks less per month for the (almost) same package I have with sprint. Comes out to 358.00 less for cell per year. So you can I <3 my iphone all you want bcuz I <3 my money more...

The keyboard. I miss my blackberry keys and the PIN messaging, it took me a long time to get used to the 160 char limit after having a blackberry for years.

Battery life can be an issue, if I'm bored I end up playing with the phone and consuming a lot, so it may last only a day.

I was just on the Sprint site and saw that new Blackberry - The Style - Looks pretty damn cool - It also has the new OS - It is a flip too - I always liked having a flip

Might have tom check that fucker out too - Not a real fan of the touch screen and do like my current Droid as it has the slider keyboard - Hmmmmmmm

All in all, I'm satisfied with my Evo.

My fiancee's got the Samsung Epic, and though it's a bit different on the surface, she loves having a physical keyboard. Might be a good alternative to consider.

To answer your question about root and benefits, it gives you ultimate control over the phone. If you want to get extreme, there are folks out there who have "cooked" their own version of the phone software/ROM, and customized the hell out of it. Variations will give you better battery life, faster performance, and cutting edge leaked features.

yes! WIFI saves the battery. I have a friend with the evo and did a lot of a battery logging to help his clients (and himself). Wifi is a huge savings. Rooting and running Fresh ROM has been pretty awesome so far. Along with have a widget that makes it easy to turn wifi on / off, 4G on or off, bluetooth.

Good to know on bplayer. I like the drag and drop more than itunes, I liked itunes on the iphone for movies. Before a flight rent a movie and be happy. Now I have to torrent or convert my own.

No issues after I did the battery calibration thing. The autocomplete on the keyboard is money and way faster than the BB.

coming from the iphone, for me:

the battery absolutely sucks
keyboard sucks
phone's user interface starts to lag after few days of use and needs a restart to be fluid again
OS tends to be buggy and feels rough around the edges (you need to do additional steps to get something done, as compared to iOS)

but at the end of the day, it gets the job done.

Are you running stock? Are you rooted? What apps do you have? I haven't rebooted in at least 2 weeks (and the only reason I ever reboot is to get into Recovery to flash something).

I don't wanna bother with all that because it will reset all the setting once I go through software update.

I just wished it worked well right out of the box.
