Smart Phone - quick question

So you can get a HTC with Android or Windows?

The Droid is only available with Android?

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

I have a choice of carriers. I am trying to decide on Iphone or not. If not the Iphone, then which Android phone.

I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death. So if there is a thread out there that you can point me to, that'd be ballsack.

Regarding Android:

There are 3 major manufacturers of Android phones right now.

Motorola
HTC
Samsung

For example, Samsung makes their Galaxy S line, which as been rebranded by individual carriers with their own names (the Epic, the Fascinate, etc). HTC has a number of different Android devices on different carriers, which are mostly similar hardware with small differences. Motorola only offers their Droid line phones on Verizon.

Post up which carriers you are considering, and I can further identify their Android options and share my opinion regarding each.

Crap I wanted to go HTC android, but it looks like Verizon only offers it with Windows.

Opinion:
If you do not go for an iPhone, then do not even consider AT&T as a carrier. Their data connectivity & network reliability is horrific, relative to Verizon.

Verizon:
HTC Incredible - Solid Android offering from Verizon.
Motorola Droid 2 - Slide-out Physical Keyboard. Slated to be dropped for the Droid 2 Global Edition (CDMA & GSM capable).
Motorola Droid X - No Slide-out Physical Keyboard
Samsung Fascinate - Rebranded Galaxy S. Another solid Android offering.

AT&T:
HTC Aria - On par with the Incredible.
Motorola Backflip - Forgot about this, but it's really not a contender in my mind.
Samsung Captivate - Rebranded Galaxy S.

The primarly differences between HTC, Motorola, and Samsung's offering, is their User Interface Overlay. HTC's is called Sense, Motorola's is called MotoBlur (or something similar, I forget), and Samsung's is called TouchWiz. They all offer similar capabilities of multiple, customizable home screens, and can usually be replaced with 3rd party launchers as well. If you've narrowed down to a few phones, go into a store and play with functional demo models, to help you get a feel for whichever one feels better to you.

Any specific questions I can answer for you?

Re: Smart Phone - quick question

Samsung epic on sprint or evo. Screw att and there outrages prices for half the service plans. I know of to many people ditching verizon right now so I wouldn't have anything to say for a recommendation. Sprint is rock solid in service. You pay 1 price and get everything with your plan unlimited. Only thing that will vary is minutes.

Alright, I'll go take a look at these two:

Verizon:
HTC Incredible - Solid Android offering from Verizon.
Motorola Droid 2 - Slide-out Physical Keyboard. Slated to be dropped for the Droid 2 Global Edition (CDMA & GSM capable).

bek, I don't care what Vcook says about you , you're da man!

At this point, see what feels best to you. Some folks love having a physical keyboard, others don't care.

I will warn you that Verizon just rolled out a tiered data pricing scheme, which is kind of expensive. If you're not pre-biased against Sprint, consider giving them a look.

The pricing is still the same though for unlimited, they just offer a $15 150mb limit plan now.

I didn't mention pricing, because he'll see the pricing whereever he goes to buy his phones.

And if you want to get REAL nitpicky, the HTC Incredible's price was ALSO dropped to $150. Only the Droid X still costs $200 (and there's no reason for it to really either).

WSE - once you've made up your mind on which phone to get, make sure you go over to Wirefly.com. They're a reputable online source for cell phones and though it takes a few extra days, they can transition you to new service/etc. Their prices are disgustingly good (ex: the HTC Incredible is FREE with a new customer 2 year contract). I didn't check any others on the site - but play around with it.

I think if u jailbreak an iPhone, or atleast unlock it, u can bet to different carrieres like tmobile. And with verision due to take the reins of the iPhone in a few months, I'm holding off on switching until I hear how well everything works including the gps part because I need it to get around when heading to clients

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

Here is a nice side by side of some of the top VZW offerings and what is coming.

Both samsung phones still are running 2.1 which means no flash.... if that is even important to you.

+1

I see a HUGE migration from carrier to carrier once that happens! AND THEN the Iphone will be officially CDMA which you know what that means for me!

(Not that I'm all about apple or applaud the Iphone more then the comparable android handsets, but you can't ignore the potential in opportunity!)
