Page File

Is the Page File shown in Task Manager the same Page File (Virtual Memory) that is on your hard drive? Cause I am not running any apps and it is showing over 300 MB being used. My understanding is that the Page File is only used when there is not enough space in RAM. I know there are processes and services that run in the background. But why are they on the Page File if there is available space in RAM? Am I misunderstanding? See the attached pic. I just formatted/reloaded a few weeks ago.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

Don't worry about. The pagefile gets used even when there is RAM available. 300 MB is not a lot.

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

Also, a lot of times, what goes on is the system will 'allocate' some space in the page file 'in case' it needs to use it... It will show as 'in use' only because it is allocated and may not contain any real data actually 'swapped out' to disk....and the data it might contain isn't anything that's going to really cause you any slowdowns in obtaining your midget bi-sexual donkey porn.

Everyone Exaggerates

We're being taken for a ride... agaaaaaaain.....

Base page file storage size is set and allocated at bootup by the system so there is contiguous disk space available. This allows for faster access to the files as the processes placed there will not be on different areas of the disk.
