Cool Email Providers

ISPs come, ISPs go ...... people move and such.

Is anyone using a permanent "host" for email addresses besides the usual

Hotmail - Gmail - Yahoo that they might recommend ?

Thanks.

Gmail. I've had the account since it truly was invite only and were hard to come by. Never any issues. And soon, Google will rule the world, so it's better to get on board now.

This. Google, Hotmail and Yahoo are not going anywhere. The ATT's and Comcasts change their names here and there.

I've had my own domain name since forever and unless I'm converting to islam, it will never change. But then, not everyone wants to pay for that option.

Its handy because everyone has [email protected] for their email address.
If they don't use the dedicated email account, their email can be setup to forward to gmail, yahoo, etc.

That is the way to go, but there is a cost associated with this.

That's actually a really good point. I don't think I can recall a time when real spam (not shit I signed up for) got through into my account. I just checked and I had 162 spam messages over the past month.

And just to show how impressive that filter really is, I just looked. I have had Gmail since November 27th, 2004.

Also, I've never deleted an email, besides clearing out the spam every once in a while (it deletes every 30 days automatically) and here are my storage stats:

i think about a year ago, something went batty and people started getting spam, as if the filter was turned off. but after a couple weeks all was good, and its pretty much clear sailing now.

If you want one email address, just use one of the providers. If you've registered a domain, then there are some options.

I use UKServers. (virtualnames.co.uk) It's 20 pounds/yr for up to 40 POP boxes and supports unlimited forwarding. I've been on them for over 6 years with no issues. I also have a number of customers/organizations on them.

The downside is that since the servers are offshore, your email is subject to the Patriot Act, and can be read with impunity without a warrant by the US Government.

Had Yahoo for long time but to much spam, so I moved to to Gmail.
Love it because works great with Android

I own multiple domains, and I still use gmail. They are rock solid. And the emails I do have on my domains, I just pull within my gmail. Their spam blocker has no competition.
