Windows Laptop question

I'm using a PC Laptop at work. Is there a way to set shortcuts on the trackpad for things such as browser navigation and quick desktop view?

Its a HP machine with Windows 7 Pro.

Thanks

Touchpad shortcuts? Like custom gestures? First it'll depend on your trackpad's drivers. Otherwise search for a third party application.

Nope, I always use a USB trackball & prefer keyboard shortcuts. Look into Autohotkey if you feel particularly ambitious.

Opera browser (and I think Win7 has some embedded) offers mouse gestures. That in tandem with keyboard shortcuts (like Windows Key + d or Alt+Tab) will give you what you want.

For example:

Win 7

•Minimize windows – useful if you’ve got a bunch of windows open and you want to minimize them all except the one you grab. Grab a window by the title bar and shake it from left to right. All windows will minimize to the task bar.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

Am afraid that's not the case, else I would have advised him as such earlier. No, the only way to get custom gestures on an application-agnostic basis, is to use a 3rd party app.

Just did a quick Google search (which I didn't have time to do earlier)... try Gmote & Highsign - they were the first two results that came up.

Yeah, I realized it was a driver/software that allowed that key mapping. But the Win 7 embedded gestures and keyboard shortcuts should be able to accomplish what he is looking for.
