XML expert needed

Hi,
anyone here have experience with XML?

I need to create an xml file for upload to Monster. I have the Monster schema, but have no experience with XML at all.

Ideally I would like to create the xml from an Excel file.

Thanks,
Glenn

If you need to create this xml file just one time, you could use something like XMLSpy, which you can use to generate a sample of what the xml would look like, with placeholders for the data, if you feed XMLSpy the schema. Then you could plug in the excel data by hand and create your final xml.

If you really want to do it from Excel, I suppose you could write some macros and the concatenate function and have it spit out the xml bracketing tags.

If you want to do this on a regular basis, (convert data to XML), there's probably some programming involved, maybe with a scripting language like python that has xml libraries, or some XSLT.

I could take a crack at creating the xml this weekend, if you want..

Thanks for the reply.

This is a one off with about 100,000 records, so I do not want to do this by hand.

I have been supplied the schema, but would like to know how to get the Excel data into the schema in an automated fashion.

Thanks,
Glenn

Regular Expressions would be my recommendation for automated formatting for the file.

Might take a few steps, but spending a few hours to crank it through is worth the time setting it up.
