So...think Verizon if gonna release the iPhone 4?

That's the word........BUT!!!!

If u have an iPhone now, it's being said that AT&T based network will NOT allow the iPhone u have now to be able to work on their network because it's based on a different system.

So that means u MUST give up your phone. And buy theirs. Now that pisses me off. But maybe it will be enough to clear up the network. And maybe, just maybe, AT&T may be forced to drop their pricing. Info due to come around 10am today. I have been waiting to do anything with my phone yet since this has been a rumor since last year. Have not even upgraded my phone because I wasn't about to get fucked in a contract again, or an unusable phone

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

You're just now learning that AT&T and Verizon have different phones and network structures? This is hardly something new.

AT&T dropped the price of the 3GS to $49 yesterday, what a coincidence! Who wants old tech though.

And Verizon will make their big announcement at 11am EST.

The difference is CDMA vs GSM, different radios.

However, it IS being said that iPhone 5 may have BOTH radios on them and be able to work on any network.

Who knows? Time will tell.

Either way, the new Verizon phone is supposed to be announced today, and ship in April/May, hope it is available today. If not, it will only be the lead iPhone for a couple of months if iPhone 5 is shipping this summer.

Common knowledge, they have completely different networks.

Same as ATT iphone4, difference is cdma antenna and probably new antenna design. Also 5 person wifi hotspot. Otherwise no difference. $200 with 2year contract for 16gb version, $300 for the 32gb version.

I think you'd be silly to buy it now though, wait till June when Apple releases the latest version of it(presumably on both carriers now). See below for illustration of what will happen if you buy it now:

Will the 5 person wi-fi hotspot (I assume you are referring to tethering?) cost extra?

Did they change tethering? I thought that is just the data plan structure. The wifi hotspot did used to be listed separately for an additional $20 for 2gb of tethering on top of your data plan.... at least when they launched the DX that's what it was.

I hope the Verizon iPhone is a huge success and sells millions upon millions of devices!

...that way the AT&T network will be less stressed and hopefully Verizon customers get the "dropped calls" problem.

From what I read due to Verizon's network you won't be able to talk on the phone and surf the web over 3G at the same time.

Not that I would swap, but that alone would definitely keep me with AT&T.

Correct unless you have a wifi signal. Its a limitation on the cdma chipsset not the network. Hopefully lte will be different.

That sucks.

It seemed like one of those features you would never use, but I actually find myself doing it all the time now.

Yeah, I do it often too. With the old iPhone if I were surfing the net on Edge I wouldn't receive phone calls, they would go to VM. I like knowing that if I'm checking out the latest weather and Rudy Maxa calls I can answer.
