Transfering files from WDTV to External HD help?

Ok Since I just got my WD 2tb hard drive in, its time to push all the media from the 1tb WDTV to the new networked hard drive.

WDBACG0020HCH thats the hard drive i have, capable of 1000MBps transfer. ...however Im transfering movies at best 1.5mbps. Problem is pushing 900gb of media from on to the other is gonna take a few weeks at this snail pace.

Any suggestions? Unfortunately the HD doesnt have a USB plug.

Both are networked in through my router, im just wondering if the router is whats choking the transfer?

you're pulling files from the internal drive on the WDTV live hub to a network attached storage device? I think the bottleneck is the WDTV, do some searching but I think that thing is known for crappy transfer rates to and from it.

Does your router have a GB hub built in?

I'm guessing not... that it's just a 100mb hub and that's also one of your choke points.

Everyone Exaggerates

Ok just checked on the WDTV, its suppose to support 100MBps via ethernet. and says it has Wired Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) interface

Not sure on the modem, its ATT uverse highspeed modem. So none of the transfer is wireless. I know thats what choked me from lappy to WDTV. But it seems to be the same speed even wired to wired from my modem.

I wish there was a way i could just connect ethernet from wdtv to the hd but there would be no way to read one or the other and transfer

just because something is rated at 100mb doesn't mean it performs at that.
