Verisign Certificates

I have a server, Win2K3 with McAfee EPO installed, that is going out to Verisign to download certificates. I have no idea what program is doing this.

Does anybody on the network have their own Verisign certs for secure e-mail?

I don't know exactly what IT does. We are a group within IT that only supports financial systems. We have our own domain (our own forrest) and the rest of IT does not have any access to our systems or the rights to push any software down, etc.

McAfee says it is not their stuff and says it is an RSA certificate.

Doesn't Verisign normally deal with credit card transactions? Have any of those on your system?

neither. I called them and they said it is actually trying to check a certificate revocagtion list (crl) using a url and a .crl file they don't use anymore. Something is doing something like checking for updates and whatever domain it is going to it is checking to see if the domain is revoked before it goes to it. I still can't figure out what it is. I am pretty convinced it is McAfee EPO (I think the apache webserver uses a certificate), so I am going to open another case and escalate it.
