Itouch problem

My kid had just finished charging her i touch on her computer about an hour ago. I'm in her room using teh computer as she is playing it in bed. All of a sudden she says her screen flashed all of a sudden and then shut off. The thing was charged, now wont turn on. doesnt respond to being plugged into teh cable that plugs into the computer. It appears to be DOA. Is this common? Unit is a 4th gen i touch purchased in november 10' as a x-mas gift.

TIA

Try this: press and hold the "menu" and sleep buttons simultaneously for about 10 seconds until you see the screen go blank. When the screen shuts off you may stop pressing. The screen will then light up with the apple logo and you iPod will once again work as normal.

Since your screen is blank watch for it to flash, or just hold for about 15 seconds and let go.

Does the screen light up if you hook up the usb?

Thanks, the forced reset worked
Is this a common issue with these things? She has had it for 4 months and me and the wife just got Iphones. Worry or just continue to use?

Sounds like Bugs has a system software issue if it has to be reset everytime he syncs it. Mine has done that only once in the last three to four years.

Plays fine, everything works great - Been dropped a quadzillion times - Unloaded and reloaded about 7 diff times - But, when I plug it in to sync, it is not recognized until I reset it - Then, Bingo - All works

Just started about 6 Mos ago - I got it for free from a work raffle thing so no biggie

Yup, this sounds like a iTunes software glitch. You might have to uninstall / reinstall. Had the same thing happen to the iPad, and it was actually iTunes problem.
