Gotta love Apple

Went to the Apple store to buy a new battery for my 3 y/o Macbook. They put in a new battery, defragged the hard drive, cleaned it from the inside out and buffed it down.

All at 0 cost :-)

It wasn't 0 cost, you paid for it with the premium price tag during the original purchase.

I'm willing to pay premium for the rock solid OS and good quality hardware.

You can't put a price on piece of mind.

You can, but it is out of the range on what I will pay for a computer. I prefer premium hardware and good OS.

Oh and they defrag'd a computer that hadn't been maintained in 3 years while you wait? Either they blew smoke up your a$$ or you sat there for about an hour. Mac or PC, SATA disk read/write times even with Apples disk format would make that a time comsuming process.

Even though you pay more upfront, its nice being in the smaller % of market share. No viruses, no virus protection to buy and upgrade religiously. Apple store employees are usually pretty cool about fixing issues at no cost. I had a new power plug put in for $0 cost a little while ago.

Yes yes steve jobs owns our soul....for the peace of mind of never having to worry about anybody "hacking" my computer or downloading viruses or tons of misc spamware...im ok with it...I spent $1200 4 years ago and never had to put another dime into my computer since. ...id say its well worth it

this is my take on the PC vs. MAC debate. Take it or leave it.

A PC can do everything a MAC does. A mac can not do everything a PC can. The Macintosh OS and software is more intuitive. The mac does what it does better. Additionally, MAC has a great support infrastructure and for 95% of the computer users out there a MAC is a simple solution. It does cost more, but given the excellent support, ease of use, and readily available training my feeling is that its worth the price of admission.

Who said you can't install third party stuff on it? I had LOTS of 3rd party programs on my Mac. Crap, I even have MS Office on mine.

I agree, they have the best support. I also like I don't have to call MS for 1 issue and call Dell/HP/etc. for another issue. OS or hardwar issues, I go to 1 place.
