Apple Store Down?

Oh how I already hate this f-ing ipad. Anyone know if the apple store is down right now?

All I wanted to do was give my Mom an ipad because it was supposed to be so easy to use. 2 days now I have been fighting with this thing. Right now I can't create a new Itunes store account. I'm trying to reach customer support on the phone but have already been disconnected on twice. My estimated wait time of less then 5 min has passed god knows when. Anyone know if they are having any issues?

You know the Germans, if you donīt join the party they come and get you.

Good to know if the apple store goes down there is no way to install apps on this thing. These guys should be building space shuttles.

Thats what I get when I try to do it on the Ipad. I hope they got hacked like Sony. Should teach them to have a single point of failure.

Honestly the overall experience is pretty poor. All I wanted to do was install a few games so that as soon as she takes it out she can use it.

I take the thing out of the box and it won't even work until I plug it into a computer. First WTF.

Fine, I find a computer it makes me install Itunes. Why? I don't want itunes. Why do I need a computer to even set this up? Second WTF.

Whatever, I set up itunes and it tell's me I need an account. I spend a good hour and half setting up an account, get hung up on twice, transfered a few times finally the resolve the glitch and I can register. Third WTF.

I register and it wont let me set up the store account until I give them my CC#.
Another WTF.

I played with a cheap android tablet and it worked in 2 min out of the box. All my windows and android phones worked 2 min out of the box.

Not a very good customer service experience.

Have you ever used an Apple product before? None of those should be "WTFs," they are all common across any Apple product.

iTunes backs up the iPad, updates software (although it may all be wireless in iOS 5), and manages home sharing. You'll want iTunes for the backup. Whether you use it for anything else, thats up to you.

If you want to buy something, you will have to put your CC# on file. Do it up front, or later, but you're still gonna have to do it.

I had all the same WTFs when we got my wife's, but I rolled with it realizing there must be some reason all this is required and I am not very computer savvy. I didn't feel the need to start a thread though. We were looking at it when we first got it, and it said to plug it into another computer, and I was like, "it IS a fucking computer". I guess it really isn't, but you would think you wouldn't have to do that.

It is back up but not rock solid yet, my update started and then all of a sudden jumped to 5 hrs. Either is is still messed up or they are getting slammed since going back up. Think I will just wait till 6am tomorrow.

Yeh I realized that too eventually. For instance it would not let me scroll down the registration screen so I had to tab to make my way down.

Everything seems to be working for me now. I installed a bunch of crap on it and it does seem to be running pretty smooth. I don't think it's really for me but it has opened my mind towards some sort of tablet in the future.

I was pretty angry in the morning Today is her birthday and I need to drop it off in the evening and nothing was working.

Hmmm, never had these issues and been running all sorts of Mac Products constantly for about 10 hrs now - I guess (1) documented issue in 10 years that did not even affect me is not too bad

Sorry to hear of your shit Bro - It does get better - It took me longer to get the case on then it did to set up mine

I hope you learn to love it the way I do mine - Almost a year now with it and I still find more shit to use it for every week

To bypass setting up a CC on file for itunes, if you purchase a free app from the app store on a computer in itunes it will add the option of None in the payment on file section. This use to be there all the time but marketing got smart and removed the option so most people put one on file and there kids just keep buying.

Also if you go to apple support online and request a call back. It is much better than waiting on hold. All my service calls were returned in less than 5 min.
