Interesting that the WP7 interface is driving the look and feel for the next Windows OS:

Didn't they just roll out with Windows 7...How much do users need to shell out for this?

More importantly, does it have multi-touch capability?

This is an early sneak-peak and (a) is probably not what the fimal product will look like and (b) is still a ways off yet.

That said, I really don't know why people are still clinging to XP, except for some very specific legacy application compatibilty issues. W7 is has been rock-solid since I started usig it in early beta. In fact W7 Beta was more stable than Vista SP1 ever was.

Its the every other version rule. Windows 95 was ok, 98 kinda sucked, 98 SE was meh but ok, NT was cumbersome, 2000 was what I consider the first stable OS, ME still gives me nightmares, XP is 2000 refined but was a hug advantage, Vista was a forced hack, 7 is a refined and stable Vista but I like it.

just wait - Apple will release something similar to this and it will beat Microsoft to market by 6 months to a year and all the apple people will swear that Microsoft is just copying Apple.

Personally I think this is just a skin for the software very similar to the media center piece that exists on Windows XP home /w Media center. It looks cool, and I think for a lot of basic home users this will provide very beneficial.

Yeah you are right, technically it was never intended from home market so we shouldn't even count it but it fit my means.

Let me get on my soapbox for a minute

DOS=So we ripped off Unix, sue us.
3.11=DOS plus GUI
95=DOS plus better GUI
98=DOS plus better yet GUI
98SE=We finally officially got rid of DOS
2000=Hey sorry NT wasn't very home friendly, lets merge the markets with an all in one OS.
ME=Hey sorry you couldn't handle 2000 as a home/office platform we'll dump this load of crap on the home user.
XP=So 2000 wasn't that bad after all, we'll pretty it up, call it Home Edition and everything will be fine.
Vista=Well we've milked XP for 5 years now, so here is a new OS, but we are not going to give third party developers enough time to support it before its release. Have fun IT professionals.
7=Vista second edition. I know they say its a different kernel but come on.
8=More tablet PC Pron. Hey didn't Microsoft abandon the tablet market years ago, oh yeah because they couldn't make an interface that wasn't crap so lets copy everyone else's and get a piece of that market.

America is like the girl that keeps getting back together with that abusive moron everyone hates

You mean like the whole 'apps' and widgets concept that Apple came out with 4-6 years ago that they just incorporated into Windows 8?

Exactly.

Remember Apple didnt create the GUI windows setup. They stole it from Xerox.

I was just forced from XP to Win7 and I can't get anything to work correctly. Even the damn "classic theme" isn't classic. I would like to meet the toolbar developer in a dark alley with a spiky bat.

The only feature better on Win7 than XP is how it manages printers. Other than that its just a big reorganization so all the buttons are somewhere else.

I find Win 7 to be more stable, snappier with a nicer GUI.
With any new OS, the changes will take time to get use to.

But I'll take OS X any day over it.
