HP touchpad for 100

The os is so so ( hopefully it gets android soon). Great hardware for the Buck. I don't have time to post all the details but engadget gizmodo and slickdeald are all over it. I got the 32 gig model for 135 shipped. Supposedly brick and mortoer stores will have the prices sat.

You realize as HP exits tablets, you are going to have NO support for that device. No updates, no new apps, etc.

$100 for a tab to read in the bathroom? Easy money.

$100 for a tab that will hopefully get android? Smart money.

For the bathroom, yeah, cheap tablet.

Not sure how its going to get Android. HP sure isn't working on it anymore. Someone in the community would have to port Android over.

Actually this is what I was referring too, seems apples hardware was its strong point.

Quote:
On that note, The Next Web reports that HP engineers had gone as far as to test webOS running on an iPad, finding that the operating system ran "over twice as fast" on the iPad 2 as it did on the TouchPad for which it had been designed. Even running as a web app within the iPad 2's Safari browser yielded substantially better performance than on the TouchPad.
The hardware reportedly stopped the team from innovating beyond certain points because it was slow and imposed constraints, which was highlighted when webOS was loaded on to Apple’s iPad device and found to run the platform significantly faster than the device for which it was originally developed.

It's already got Ubuntu on it. I don't think the android port is far beyond.

I would have bought one for that price. I also heard places like best Buy returned most of their stock also to HP. WebOS isn't bad at all, too bad it never took off.

I got mine this morning. Went all over the damn place looking for them, everyone was out. Walmart, Office depot, Office Max, etc. One place even had a handwritten sign in the window that they have no more. After all the driving around I went to the Staples 1 block from home. They had 2 open box returns that were not really open but were taken back. It was the 32GB version which was more but I got one for $150, which was my magic price point. Always wanted a Android tab that had a captive touchscreen and a super sharp display. But those cannot be touched for less than $350-$400. Maybe @ xmas they will have them for $300 but for $150 I will use this one, it is really nice. Super crisp display and a great touch screen. Pretty fast too, not iPad2 fast but worth the extra savings. Believe I read it has a snapdragon 1.2ghz dual core chip in it, pretty good. $500 to $150 is a deal anyway you look at it, I pissed off more at a concert drinking before LOL!!

It was hit or miss. Bestbuy, officemax, costco etc etc are all shipping their stock back to HP which I guess will be sold by HP. So you will probably get another chance.

There are people on CL trying to charge over $400 for these things.

HP couldnt move these things except at $100, but these brilliant business men think they can.
