GoPro Movie Editing Software

Is there any free programs that I can download and use to edit the length of a GoPro Movie? I'm runng XP service pack 3. I want to shorten the length that's about it. It would be cool to put some music to the background but not essential.

If there isn't anything free can someone edit it for me? The file size is close to a gig.

Hey, got your email Was just about to respond.

I use Movie Maker mostly but I did download a copy of Pinnacle Studio 14 that I just used for the girls track day on 7.1.11

And Windows Movie Maker should be part of your OS, at least it was on mine when I got my laptop.

Both programs have all the text and transitions that you see in the video, if you wanna spend that much time on it. Both programs are very similar too

I can try to put it on a cd and mail it to you?

I have windows movie maker but it will not see the MP4 video I have. Any idea how to go about this? I figured this would be simple thing to do.

What OS do you have? And you have the HD Go Pro then, right?

I was told that Movie Maker on windows 7 supports the hd ones but I don't have the HD Go Pro. Anything older doesn't

Well if it would be easy everyone could do it... lol

I have/had the same problem since I went with the HD GoPro. I'm starting to use SonyVegas, it was some penny, but after playing with it it seems to be pretty good and after you get your head around it, easy to use...

The only other thing would be to convert it to MP3 or something that the Movie Maker you have supports. The files from my Go Pro are AVI and I have no problem in Movie Maker

If I use quicktime I can watch it and there are selections in there to edit but they say "Pro". When you click on "Pro" it prompts you to buy the software. Should I just buy this software?

I use AviDemux to shorten and merge videos. Easy and quick. It can probably do audio stuff but not sure as I've never used it for that. Basically open the software, click open and select video. Set the A marker and B marker and press delete to remove the section. To combine another file select append. When done click save video.

EDIT: forgot to mention it's free.

Ok, the only problem I'm having is when I save the file it doesn't save it as a known file type.

add the same extension that the original file had that you opened. For example, if you edited MYVIDEO.mp4, save it as NEWVIDEO.mp4, the program won't add the extension for you.

Or just add it to the file name that you've already created.
