Wireless USB

I'm working with the SAE student org at UIC designing a wiressless link for their FSAE Formula 1 car. They are using the AEM EMS-4, and need to wirelessly see what the car is doing. The problem is that the new EMS outputs its info over USB and i'm having a tough time figuring out a way to make that wireless. I need a couple hundred foot range so just using WUSB is not an option.

Some ideas I've had are:
USB to serial adapter, then using XBee transceivers to send the signal.

USB to bluetooth

Using a router that accepts USB and creating a router to router adhoc system.

Using a Beagle board (PC that runs Linux on s single board) and then running a remote desktop to see the data.

I've talked to several people at UIC from software folks to hardware folks and no luck. Am I screwed here because AEM used USB instead of serial? Suggestions to make this signal wireless?

Thanks.

UIC sucks

computer engineers should be able to write a code to tell the computer how to output the data anyplace on the computer instead of the USB port. I'm sure there coders on the internet that have already made a utility to capture output data and transmit it to another output
