batch JPEG resize

I have approx. 7300 folders worth of pictures that I need to re-size and shrink (file size). This represents over 100GB of pictures and all of them are the same size that they came out of the camera from (3.2MP JPG) I only need them to be 1024x768 and the quality can take a small hit to get the file size smaller. I tried picasa but it would require me to do each folder separately. I found a program called BetterJPEG but that kept crashing on one test folder with only 313 images in it.

I will gladly but a program but don't want to spend $500 on photoshop since it isn't what I need.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Look into http://www.acdsee.com/. I believe a number of their products can do batch processing.

I was gonna say ACDsee also.

IrfanView can do batch processing and it's free for non-commercial use.

been using GraphicConverter on my mac for years to do batch processing stuff like this.
