Lookin' for wireless router/hard drive/printer

My Linksys router is starting to crap out on me and I want to get a new one. I've been looking around and have decided I want all my peripherals wireless, too.

What would you all suggest for a wireless router to which I can hook up my printer and ext HD? I was looking at the Apple Time Capsule 2TB and it looks pretty sweet, but expensive. I have a 250GB ext HD that I can use for a while longer but I'll want something with more space in the next year or so.

I want to get away from Linksys, their stuff seems to only last a couple of years.

Apple Extreme, does everything the time capsule does, minus the built in hard drive. I have my 500 gig drive plugged into mine, I could also do a printer, but my printer is wifi. its also a 4 port so I have all my sat boxes running through it as well.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

it has 3 ports.... 4 total (1 in and 3 out), but still a great router. Mine will work down the hallway on the 1st floor and we have cement floors and ceilings.

That's a b/g router. File transfers are gonna be super slow. Would definitely go for the N router I mentioned about.

And don't bother with an inkjet printer. Go for a multifunction high quality laser printer with cheap high yield toner refills: http://www.staples.com/Brother-MFC-7...product_918236

not bad for a refurb deal. I have the next model up because I wanted the hardwire ports to have gigabit speed capability but this should probably suffice for what you need

Damn, this shows how behind I am in the networking world (and I work for a dot com! LOL). I didn't know you could do all this stuff wirelessly.

Mich, I'm trying to stay away from Linksys routers. The one you linked is actually the one I have that's crapping out on me. That external HD and the printer are pretty sweet, but for the price of the router and the hard drive I can get the Apple Time Capsule.

http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD...ode=MTY1NDA0Mg

But can I do all the stuff with the Time Capsule that I could do with the Western Digital drive? Like accessing the photos and videos with my iPhone4?

So far Ernie's router combined with Mich's hard drive looks like the way to go. I'll hold off on buying a new printer for now, mine works fine.

I bought the router Ernie linked (great deal thanks!) and the external hard drive michowski linked. But I got it from OfficeMax for $50 cheaper.

This whole "personal cloud" thing sounds pretty awesome. I can't wait to get it set up. Has anyone else set up something like that at home? Any pitfalls to watch for?
